QUOTE(Tainted @ Jul 30 2013, 12:47 AM) Need some recommendations for a fast tablet for around Rm500 or lower. Had a memopad for few days and the screen and everything was horrible. You will have to state the criteria: • Dual/ Quad core processor • Screen size ...etc

QUOTE(Tainted @ Jul 30 2013, 02:09 AM) Screen size, anywhere from 7 to 10". Quad-core would obviously be faster right? Quad core means better performances for applications, especially if you multitask. For a 7" tablet, the Ainol Novo 7 Venus Myth Quad Core is a good buy, priced slightly less than RM500. For a 10" tablet however, the budget has to be expanded if you want some of the best quad core performance tablets. The Cube U30GT2 Quad Core and Pipo Max M9 are good buys, but they're priced higher at above RM800. Running with Rockchip's current latest quad core processors. QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Jul 30 2013, 01:27 PM) I wouldn't recommend any tablets running the Actions ATM-7029 chipset. The Venus/Myth is one of them. Fake marketing (marketed as a Cortex-A9, but in actual fact just a Cortex-A5), abysmal performance (~12000 in Antutu), bad game compatibility&performance (lousy Vivante GC1000+ GPU). As cheap as it may be, there are still better options out there. A shameless rip-off. Perhaps you have any recommendation/s then for fast quad core 7 inches?

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Jul 30 2013, 01:52 PM) Pipo S1 Pro Android 4.2 7" 1024x600 display Rockchip RK3188 @ 1.6GHz 1GB DDR3 8GB Internal storage ------------------------------------------------------------- If you can live with a 4:3 display, then the Vido Mini S, Mini One would be a good choice. Other alternatives includes the Chuwi V88S (If you have a MicroSD card installed, it protrudes out of the tablet), ICOO Fatty2, Cube U35GT... I'm not too sure if the ICOO and Cube can be found locally or not. Thanks for the recommendation, but its for Tainted as he is looking for 7-10 inch tablets within the 500 bucks range.

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Jul 30 2013, 02:52 PM) Exactly what I wanted to say. But, people are chasing blindly on the spec. Don't we know that, the software matters? In fact, both are. Improper firmware updates can impair performance while low end specs equal choppy performances

QUOTE(Tainted @ Jul 30 2013, 08:50 PM) How are branded ones as compared to china tablets? Honestly, dont really have much confidence in china tab. Anyway, how much is the memopad hd7? Read some reviews saying that its lags a bit. Most of the tablets are made in China, including Motorola, Samsung and ASUS. From this link, price starts at RM499.

QUOTE(Tainted @ Jul 31 2013, 12:24 AM) RM499 is indeed a good price. Was wondering hows the new nexus 7 and how much would it be? Would it be wiser to spend the extra bucks on the nexus 7? As there are two Nexus 7 models; first gen(2012) and second gen(2013), you'll have to shell out around twice the price. IMHO, many choose the branded over the less prominent ones. As a result, there are more ROMs and supports for the former. If you are planning to customize your ROM occasionally for optimum performance, buy the Nexus 7. Else, if you're only focused on productivity and entertainment without the need to change ROMs often, choose the RM499 option. This post has been edited by UserU: Jul 31 2013, 12:59 AM
