You will have to state the criteria:
• Dual/ Quad core processor
• Screen size
...etc

Quad core means better performances for applications, especially if you multitask.

For a 7" tablet, the Ainol Novo 7 Venus Myth Quad Core is a good buy, priced slightly less than RM500.

For a 10" tablet however, the budget has to be expanded if you want some of the best quad core performance tablets. The Cube U30GT2 Quad Core and Pipo Max M9 are good buys, but they're priced higher at above RM800. Running with Rockchip's current latest quad core processors.

A shameless rip-off. Perhaps you have any recommendation/s then for fast quad core 7 inches?

Most of the tablets are made in China, including Motorola, Samsung and ASUS.

As there are two Nexus 7 models; first gen(2012) and second gen(2013), you'll have to shell out around twice the price.

IMHO, many choose the branded over the less prominent ones. As a result, there are more ROMs and supports for the former. If you are planning to customize your ROM occasionally for optimum performance, buy the Nexus 7. Else, if you're only focused on productivity and entertainment without the need to change ROMs often, choose the RM499 option.
