if you could invest a little more, Galaxy Tab A 10.1 + Spen would be a great choice. the RRP price is rm1,499 and i think you can get cheaper on online markets. i think you will find the Spen useful.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab...(2016)-8090.php

note taking & casual browsing might be best to get screen with 1080p resolution or above (less scrolling).
other options would be below...

Asus Zenpad Z10 ZT500KL - price unknown
http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenpad_z10_zt500kl-8370.php

Lenovo Tab3 10 - price unknown

hi bro,
they have a few variant. the 3gb ram comes with 32gb rom.

and if you willing to wait a bit, once S3 TAB more established, i think the price will drop a little more.

QUOTE(ENTj @ May 18 2017, 09:00 AM)
Got interested in the Tab A 10.1 + spen after seeing it mentioned so many times
But with 16gb of ROM, how much usable size do we have for apps after deducting system-reserved files?
Takut nanti only have space for <20 apps laugh.gif

although not a fan if 8 inch tablet but this is not bad, though at 1.1K i feel its a bit pricey and no MicroSD card, without it, it is a no no for me. the specs will surely offer no lag and smooth operation.

what do you have in mind to use it for generally?

Dear Sir/Mdm,

Same as most poor chaps here..

Looking for durable tablet for kids.
For educational purposes.
Kids games, youtube, use kids custom launchers.

Preferably around 500 or less.
Previously gave quite expensive tablet...you know what happened....sadness happened.

Brand: anything good.
Size: any size.

I found that unknown tablets have more difficulty getting good casing or even tampered glass..

Thanks.

Dear Sir,
any tablet, cheap or expensive, if not handle properly will face same demise. my advise is on your kid next tablet, buy proper case like book like case with flip cover and put a tempered glass SP on it. if your kid has a tendency to drop the tablet, then i advise use some DIY foam/rubber on the case for extra protection.

for kids mode, there are many playstore app that have the kind of option/restriction that you need, so you have option there.

as for your request, have a look at this page for models: http://www.teclast.com.my/ecomm/
among all the models here, based on your budget and smooth operations, i would recommend:
- Teclast X80 Plus 2-IN-1 Dual OS

a cheaper version is this but i feel would lag badly...
- Teclast P80 3G 16GB Intel X3-C3230 HD 1280X800 1.5GB Ram

at least with a local warranty, anything not externally damage, rough handling with a kid, can go claim biggrin.gif

will anyone recommend a budget tablet with stylus (windows/android) or list out models that are around in market currently. thanks
*
hi...
please state budget tablet with the purpose of s stylus? its easier to recommend if have both these information.

QUOTE(xngjn @ Oct 27 2017, 12:29 PM)
is there any tablet can use OTG and charging at the same time? this need special function from tablet or any tablet also can do by using special cable?
*
actually what you need is a USB hub that can do power delivery if i am not wrong. they can charge the device at the same time. but these hub with power delivery is not cheap.

for example, like this one: J5create JCA374
https://en.j5create.com/collections/type-c/...ant=18868539524
it supports power delivery 2.0 where power will feed back into the connecting port of the device. i saw this in Lowyat Viewnet but it cost about rm200++

yeah, the full HD version is 1.4k in malaysia. what are the china brands you're speaking of? tablet finder on gsmarena didn't list any
*
wow 1.4K hmm.gif shakehead.gif

Onda, Jumper, and Teclast is not bad. Cube also quite reliable as we have a few user here. based on your budget, anything below USD 220 then. if you need to find a reliable review on it, http://techtablets.com provides really good ones.

here is the link:
https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-fHD-_gear/?...igh&odr_value=1

buying from gearbest, the delivery average is usually 2-3 weeks.

i think it be hard to find a 10.1 inch at that price point, especially in the local market. you can try Gearbest or Bangood but you may need to bump your budget up a bit.

here is an example

What's a good tablet that has excellent battery, for watching movies (using earphones)?

Can't charge frequently because power outlet too far / moving and powerbank is cumbersome.
*
what is your budget? and preferred screen size?
Mi Pad 2 has been said to be a solid performer and battery efficient. any tablet with SD625 cpu is good and power efficient as well which translates to longer battery life.

there are quite some powerbanks that is thin and slim profile that can really extend any tablet battery life to twice or three times its usable duration. you can mitigate the cumbersome factor by incorporating the powerbank with the tablet case.

Anyone looking at the new xiaomi pad 5? Seems very top spec and good. Planning to get 1 but worried about the firmware for now and wildvine certification.
*
even the lowest version which maybe price around RM1.2K - 1.3K looks very promising for that price.

1. Brand.
- I don't mind any brand, just I hope I can find it easily in store or shoppe (with preferred seller)
2. Budget.
- Below RM1500
3. Specs.
- I don't have any specific specs but as long as it serve my purpose, that will be fine. But definitely I hate lagging if I do multi-purpose work.
- light and easily portable
4. What you need in the tablet - multi-purpose work in:
- Casual browsing
- eBook reading
- Note taking
- watching movies
- listening songs
- light games

non mainstream then yes.

i did try to use an 8 inch plus tablet as a daily phone with telephone function for a short duration.

but what that was dismay to me truly was the camera as TnG QR reading was a challenge. another one was that you always need headphones or earbuds available when people may just called in.

QUOTE(kuntilanak @ Sep 19 2025, 08:34 AM)
I'm curious... is there any good small tablets with the following spec?
1. Brand - any will do, but preferably Mainstream
2. Budget - <RM2000
3. Specs - >8 GB Ram/ any Proc/ any Camera spec/ <9 inch Screen size
4. Use - Casual browsing/Note taking/telephone function

the last usage in particular... seems like quite hard to find...
