QUOTE(Kechen578 @ Sep 26 2017, 10:57 PM)
Dear people around the world,

Bali still safe for tourism,

Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency has urged tourists to continue visiting Bali, saying the resort island is safe except for the area around Mount Agung, a volcano in eastern Indonesia that could erupt at any time.

Three hundred tremors were recorded in the vicinity of the volcano between midnight and 6am on Sunday and white smoke was detected 200 metres above the crater.

National Disaster Management Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho tweeted that as of Sunday morning the volcano had not erupted and there was no volcanic ash.

A radius of nine kilometres and 12 kilometres around the mountain was considered dangerous but the resort island was otherwise safe.

Mount Agung is 71 kilometres from the tourist hot spot of Kuta and 32 kilometers away from centre of Ubud

Flights in and out of Bali's international airport remain normal with 50,000 to 60,000 travellers in and out of the island every day says Ngurah Rai airport general manager Yanus Suprayogi.

The director general of air transport, Agus Santoso said even if the volcano erupted  with lava it would not affect aviation unless there was also volcanic ash.

Nine alternative airports outside of Bali had been prepared for diverted flights if volcanic ash was detected.

Mr Santoso said 300 buses would  be available to transport affected travellers to ferry ports and bus stations so they could leave Bali if flights were affected.

"Bali tourism is safe. Do not spread misleading news that Bali is not safe because Mount Agung is on the highest alert status. Please come and visit Bali,"

I've booked non refundable tickets to Bali end Oct.
Will not be going altho I was supposed to stay at NusaDua which is supposedly safe from any eventual volcano eruption.
Main reason being, I do not want to add anymore strain on limited resources on water , food etc for the local people who are at the evacuation centres. As it is now, I read water supplies are critically low.

Recent Updates on Mount Agung Volcanic Activity (per September 29, 2017)
29 September 2017 11:18 WIB, Ir. Kasbani, M.Sc.

QUOTE
A. Volcano Monitoring Data:

Seismic:

Recorded volcanic earthquakes still show high numbers. These earthquakes indicate brittle failure inside the volcano caused by magma movement.
Calculated magnitudes of earthquakes have continued to increase. Magnitude of the largest volcanic earthquake during the crisis period is M4.3 on September 27, 2017 at 13:12 Central Indonesian Time (UTC+8) and more earthquakes are being felt recently by people around Agung and Batur areas, and some of the biggest earthquakes are even felt in Denpasar and Kuta areas.
Volcanic earthquakes are estimated to be located within 20 km of the volcano's summit.

Satellite remote sensing :

Satellites have detected new steam emissions and thermal areas within the summit crater; these areas have expanded during the past week and now include a new area of emissions in the center of the crater.

Visual observations:

White steam clouds are occasionally observed rising 50-200 m above the summit; and currently, the emissions activity are observed to be more frequent.
After a M4.2 earthquake on September 26, 2017 at 16:27 Central Indonesian Time (UTC+8), a larger white steam cloud was emitted to a height of around 500 m above the summit.

Deformation:

Analysis of tiltmeter data suggests some inflation (swelling) of Mount Agung.

B. Analysis:

Based on the analysis of current monitoring data, at this moment, the probability of an eruption is higher than the probability of no eruption; however, the probability may change at any time depending on current monitoring data.
If an eruption does occur, it is most likely to be small at first; however, a large eruption may follow. The size of future eruptions cannot be determined with certainty.
The exact date and time of future eruptions cannot be predicted, however; CVGHM will issue warnings when conditions change and eruptions are more certain.
It is still safe to travel to Bali; however, visitors should not enter the restricted areas near the volcano (currently at distances of 12 km to the southeast to southwest and north to northeast and 9 km elsewhere. CVGHM has worked with the Indonesian National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) to develop warnings for eruptive activity.
Visitors to Bali and local people should stay aware of hazard warnings from Indonesian government officials. Current information can be obtained via CVGHM's web and mobile phone application Magma Indonesia (magma.vsi.esdm.go.id) and via Google Playstore.

Kasbani,
Head of CVGHM, Geological Agency
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

I have shortlisted to Eden, Harper & Bene hotel at Kuta. Any suggestion which one will be better in terms of comfort and walking distance to nearby eateries & shops?

Going with wife and these were relatively near to the beach.

I can help you on your plan. Before that, need to know first what you're into? Photography? Place to chill and drink?
And who are you going there with?
