Hi Guys,

Was wondering, does the sound of the keyboard when we type message will fade away over time ?

Beside that, BB Q10 does support 4G/LTE right. Planning to use it with my new Altel simcard

it means the rubber may be dead. (depends on how you look at it, some people like it some people don't)

yes it should support Altel's band since it shares the same frequency that Celcom is utilizing.

Oh OK. Tried typing on my friend BB Q10 and can hear the keyboard sound. Maybe because brand new. Suddenly dont like the keyboard making sound when typing. I guess use to the touch screen keyboard no sound.

Used to be a BB fan once. Thats why was thinking to get one for my extra sim.

BTW the new BB10 dont need BIS anymore right, not like older model BB. Thats what I read on the net and my friend experience.

Yeap, no need BIS. If your company insist on using BES (its even better actually), by all means go ahead.  laugh.gif

No BES for me since using personal device. BTW can BB Q10 be installed with android app ?

Im thinking of trading my Nexus device for a BB Q10 but I have few concern here. Maybe you guys can clarify some of my question here.

1. One thing i like regarding android is that u can sync your contact to google account. Can BBQ10 does this.
2. There are a few app in android that i really used a lot. my question can i install this android app to BB Q10

1. BlackBerry is always the King of email messaging, so syncing contacts is no problem.
2. Search for "Snap for BlackBerry", Google Play Client for BlackBerry.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like my contact syn with Google play is solved and also the frequently used Android app i can use with BB Q10. Making more determine to trade my Nexus 4

Hi,

I'm using BBZ10 and
1. yes, I sync all contact to google account, outlook account and Yahoo account.
2. not all android apps working on BB10 especially the apps that using google service. May be about only 80% will work.

Sync means that if you add contact from your device, it will later sync in Google account and also vice versa right?

I am almost getting this next week but last week tried typing it with my friend device which is quite new and we can hear the sound of keyboard. Can't remember whether my old bold 9790 have this sound or not. Might be because already accustomed with the no sound during typing at screen keyboard instead of physical one. Will the sound be gone after a while

how does it sound like?

if you're buying second hand and it sounds "crunchy", don't buy it.

Good ones have a distinct "click" noise to every keystroke you type.
*
Its the 'click' sound i guess. my friend's phone got it for her birthday present. just wondering how long does the click sound. i guess im used to the no sound during typing which come in handy while in the office and need to text for sometime. is everyone also the same

This one is available in 10.3.1, scheduled to arrive before end of the year. and its NATIVELY baked into the OS.
Yes and no.

Q10 uses physical keyboard, but you can set a virtual row that pops up above the physical row, and if I recall correctly its only 3 words. It only acts as an autocomplete, but will act as prediction for the next word (this is the only thing Swiftkey did, besides the heat mapping technology). It will support up to three languages simulatenously.
*
Is there any call blocker app while waiting for the 10.3.1 release ?

As for the auto complete meaning it the same as Android where it will pop up 3 columns. BTW do we have to install the Swiftkey app or it is already embedded in the OS where we can select which language for the auto complete ? I assume its the same as for the Swiftkey for android whereby we can sync to our email/FB/Twitter and learn from it

As for call blocker, the answer is yes and no.

Yes as in there are a lot of call blockers, no as in decent ones still have bugs. For example some of the basic ones actually only reject calls and delete sms after they are received. In BlackBerry 10.3.1 the algorithym is changed, so it actually is a proper call blocker (calls never get through) and SMS-es never reach you.

I think BlackBerry finally understood that certain crucial features are not meant to be left out to third party developers to fill out on.

As for the autocomplete, I think I'll have to find a Q10 owner to help show you how to activate it.

As for Swiftkey-like settings, NO. BlackBerry did not implement the Swiftkey style of reading, what it does is that unlike Swiftkey's methods of learning, BlackBerry uses only existing data. It will not mine for past data at all.

Consider this an example:

You buy a brand new BlackBerry phone.

You set up BBM (or at least BBID). The keyboard learns nothing yet.
You restore BBM, and let's say it has 3 days of saved chats. It will not bother learning anything but what you've typed.

You set up email accounts, and it syncs to at least 1 hour back (the keyboard learns only what you type, not what you have received, unlike Swiftkey, which actually combs ALL your messages)

The same with Twitter, same with Facebook, and every other apps that has keyboard input in. I won't say its crippled, but its designed to be like that on purpose.

If you go into websites, be careful of what you type. It comes out, it learns.

If you're a light user, it will take 3-5 months for it to actually fully be in sync with your style of writing. Give it a year, and you're probably going to only flick with almost zero input.

If you're a heavy interactor with your phone, and always restore the same data when you reload your phone (at least for word predictions, learnings and all), your phone can become YOU.

But not Swiftkey, because it learns everything, including others.

Thanks for the extensive explaination. Tyring to find out more about BB Q10 before purchasing one

As for email in BB Q10, let say I have my personal Gmail & office Outlook mail. It wont combine together right. Like in my Nexus device I have Gmail icon & Email icon for office mail. Is BB Q10 the same. And as for event notification, currently I will have notification if there is any event/meeting need to attend and can snooze or reply attending/yes/no. How does BB Q10 works for this

It will combine unless you're in BES. The problem for non-BES users right now is that work and personal profile can only be separated with a MDM service management.

HOWEVER,

Emails are segregated in two ways, real time.

I cannot show you my email (too much of sensitive information, but from the hub, its separated into two factors
If you swipe up then peek, you actually will see "mother categories", such as facebook, twitter, instagram, wechat, line, email 1, email 2, email 3, email 4.

In the hub everything is mixed up according to the soonest to the latest,

so in my hub it says
TUESDAY:
email from xyz
email from UTBBLOGS
email from John
whatsapp group chat A
BBM group A chat A
BBM group A chat B
MONDAY:
asdfasdf
asdfasdfas
fdsafadsf
but from the hub I swipe right, i can get the outlook "Email account A (icon) 32" (meaning I have 32 account for email A", then "Email B = 10" (i know there's 10 email B
if you have BES, then you can enter settings, then enable / disable "separate work accounts from personal accounts".

How do you set an email as a work account with BES, is something I haven't tried yet.
However, when BES 12 is launched, there will be a really affordable BES pricing, for USD19 (around RM60, that's RM5 per month, CHEAP!) for silver license, and USD60 for Gold (around RM15 per month, which i'm also willing to pay) for the extra security and interoperability with Microsoft Outlook and Google push messaging. That's the one i'm hoping that will bring back an affordable BES package without the need of buying and maintaining a server.

How about event indicator such as meeting. Will it be collobrate in the calendar automatically when we received email for meeting invitation ?

Meaning we cant see let say all our inbox/sent item/delete item for Gmail then we can go to another screen to see inbox/sent item/delete item for outloook email since everything e.G inbox for personal & outlook is lumpsum in one inbox is that what u mean ?

Erm I think you may have the wrong picture.
The best way is to look at these 2 videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLvJG31ZK-8

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbD_UmFtyoQ
That is why i'm willing to pay for BES.
Without BES, all that "WORK EMAIL" gets split into email account names.

For example, I have 7 email accounts, 3 of them are work (i'm both an admin and user of my school's VLE system, and also the 'impromptu-IT guy"). So all of it actually gets treated as personal, since i don't have BES to separate what is work and what is personal.

But when I swipe from the hub (peek and flow)  it shows

Personal email A
Personal email B
Personal email C
Personal email D
Personal email E
Work email A <-------- work email that's supposed to be in work container, but here it is in my personal email section
Work email B <-------- work email that's supposed to be in work container, but here it is in my personal email section
Work email C <-------- Work email that's supposed to be in work container, but here it is in my personal email section
whatsApp
Twitter
Facebook
app a
app b
app c
app d

if you have BES (or at least your company does, or some other MDM that supports BlackBerry devices) you can just swipe down from home or hub, and click "work" or "personal".

and what you see in work will be different than what you see in personal. Its like a phone with multiple personalities.
Hub will not put it like this

EMAIL
Whatsapp
Twitter
All other apps

(which you get to see on Android devices, and its a FRICKING MESS because if you have multiple non-GMAIL inboxes, you're so going to get screwed)

So don't worry about not being able to organize your email, since all you need to do is just go to Hub, and it sets your emails based on account, although you will still "by time of arrival" based on how you set it up (that can be changed)

Think Im getting the hang of it. BTW anyone here know where can get Otterbox casing for BB Q10. Loves this casing during my Bold day. Been using it for all my Bold device during the Bold day.
