Before i read this post, i think your friend didn't trace. Tracing artwork is totally "lame". If you following the illustration, then it's consider "ok". I last time also follow the illustration, but NEVER trace. TRACING is like cheating directly. I seldom draw now. Drawing anime not my type. I prefer CG or editing in photoshop. But my friend is a veli good in drawing anime. He got take part in gempak competition, few times. He got 3rd or 4th prize. He loves to draw comics and coloring his comics. Really admire his artwork, he got the "brain" to draw! haha just a day and so much feedbacks
