He already mentioned this line "I try to remove it but all antispyware found no spyware..."

BTW, I usually do an incremental backup and just restore it when my computer gets infected by stubborn trojan/virus/malware

kerossac: Have you tried HijackThis! ?

It is sad that the latest HijackThis doesn't look registry entry in policy key(i forgot the location), most of the new malware autostart up from there.

has anyone heard about one virus called Brontox..(its originally from Indonesia)..my PC was kena by this virus already..this virus is quite genius, i'm unable to deal with any anti virus software in my PC (my previous Norton 2004 cannot to detect this virus, thus i tried to install another anti virus, but cant, this virus is well protecting itself)..

here the symptoms,

i cannot unhide my hide folder

automatically got extra folder named as the original folder (exe file)

windows suddenly restart by itself

cannot open or download, even search any anti virus website..

email?..i think u all here knows about it..

now, i cannot:

installed any new anti virus software

download anti virus software from internet

put command on regedit, also cannot..

i cannot deal with any anti virus software becos of this..

now have to format my pc, so that i can install the lates anti virus software, then i can destroy this virus if its happend to me again..

Actuaklly, there are Brontox removers out there. But since you have formatted, probably there is no need for it anymore then.

This virus is quite popular. My sister is also hit by this one, and a friend who works at a nearby university has to clean up nearly 200 PCS in the labs there.

Well, my pc kena virus/worms for 2 times.

1st one is microsoft products, such as words, excel ...blah blah. i scan my whole HDD, didn't find anyway. It was totally weird. The infect is when i open ms word, it types itself. It just like a ghost typing. laugh.gif I uninstalled the whole ms products and delete the some ms files. Then i install it back, it solved the issue. I still don't know it's virus or worms. So weird.

2rd is norton antivirus kena virus. Sounds very silly right? It was damm real. I use norton antivirus 2004. I online as usual, then suddenly it auto updated itself. I was shocked, cos' i disable the auto-update. After it updated. It told me to restart pc. When i in my account, norton antivirus cannot run and said what got error or virus in my pc. 10x God i got install AVG antivirus. I use AVG to heal the infected file. But no luck, norton antivirus still cant run. So i fed-up and uninstalled it. I using AVG antivirus now. Till now no problem using that thumbup.gif

I almost got this one.. from my friend's thumbrive.. it's fun to see how the AV can detect and delete them.. it's not like everyday worm or virus tried to take over my computer.. use a decent AV and always update it, with those steps, one day you might be hoping a virus would try to enter your PC laugh.gif

Well, a horror story. My old PC that I haven't used for 2 years is infected. Recently, I connected to the internet for 12 mins without firewall and got a need to shutdown error. I had forgotten that I had transferred all the data to my new PC and subsequently reformatted the hard drive. So I had no firewall, nothing except for winXP and the old modem USB driver. I can't even stay online long enough to download the free zone alarm firewall before it shutdown.

Anyway, I downloaded the firewall from my new PC and transferred with a thumbdrive. It became stable after the firewall was installed but the performance was sloppy. I suspect spyware since I saw so many unknown programs from msconfig. So, I downloaded the spyware blaster for the free scan. To my horror, it scaned out 253 files (226 files alone in the registry) and 14 total spyware with one surveil spyware among it. It was crazy as my old PC was only online for TWELVE minutes.

I am not too keen on getting the internet security suite for my 2ndary PC. Any free trial spyware that I can download to remove all these? Thanks.

Today my friend just told me that his HDD space is always full. He uninstalled few games, which is 2-3GB. THen, his HDD space is full again. He try delete some big files, eg avi file. HDD is full again. It like got virus or what which cause his HDD to be full, no free space left. He tried to scan his HDD, but no virus or worm. Clean scan.

So, any comment anyone? I told him that reformatting HDD is the best way. But he very tired formating. So anyone got solution?

MBR = This first sector of the hard disk is called the master boot record (or sometimes the partition table or master boot block).

for MBR failure solution refer here....

For me the best way to deal with virus-infected PC is to format the harddrive and install the OS from the scratch. I'm a sceptic biggrin.gif

BTW. since this is the share-your-experience in dealing with viruses thread, I would like to share mine. Err Not my PC exactly, but my officemate's. Her PC was hit by a virus few months ago. Sorry, I can't remember the virus name. The virus will DELETE some antivirus softwares like Norton, AVG, Kaspersky, etc after it infected the PC. I used Hijackthis to remove virus-suspected process that executed during the boot-up and restart the PC. Then I installed Kaspersky antivirus. The installation went fine. But I cannot use it. The virus deletes the antivirus as soon as the installation process completed. I didn't knew about this until I was wandering why the definition-updating process takes forever to complete. I did some researches and found out why. Beside deleting the antivirus softwares, the virus will modify the updating process. The updating is there, but the only things that will updated is the virus itself, not the definition files. Clever, very clever doh.gif

You can use online virus scanner actually...
expect the virus blocks all internet connection....
or you can use Stinger which a software that can put into USB drive or CD,
so u can use Stinger to remove viruses. (Stinger doesn't need any installation)

mine is same as others, get the brontox remover(coz brontox will autoclose the antivirus), start your antivirus, update the definition and scan again.. better use on-boot scan.. or..

some of the way to prevent is rename your cmd.exe file.. a lot of virus will findo cmd.exe to do their works.. so, just rename it.. rclxms.gif
mine, ive rename my cmd.exe to ayam.exe tongue.gif

me myself seldom hit by virus or spyware...... is actually the person around give me some lesson ...... since i always access to internet - firewall, anti-virus and plus a anti-spyware program i think is a must......

i probably always aware on what program is running on startup (i use to check my msconfig + delete inactivate with msconfig cleanup) and keep my registry clean also (use registry cleaner to clean unuse registry). This i think will help u to fast notice if any strange program is running (not install by urself).

for download new software and program try to get know to whether the software itself got carry any spyware or not.... like kazaa b4 will mention that it will bring along aspyware forget it name tongue.gif ..... and try not to download those software crack cos most of the ppl get hit by virus or trojan is from those crack u download.

this only my opinion if wrong plz correct me

YA! Good point. Well, i'm same as ya. Seldom hit by virus or spyware. Kazaa lite is a free-spyware. Yet, it also depend on your luck. I just install AVG , that enough for me tongue.gif

U got install antivirus software? Got full scan your hdd? Your situation more sounds to technical problem rather than virus. Normally, after they format your hdd. The virus/worm should be erase. Hmm.. maybe some parts of the hardware not good. YA!! Acer laptop so problematic. I got frie buy acer laptop. Just buy about 2-3months. Den the whole laptop cant switch on. Go to the acer company and ask them to fix lo!!! I think it's the technical problem.
