Mid range phone, mid range specs. There was some comparison I read yesterday, but I didn't post. Phonearena I think.

G+ post on backups

https://plus.google.com/u/0/101530349765455...sts/ShCvKdDjBir

Right now I use Helium backup to back up my apps and app data. I'm itching to try something new. What do yo guys use to back up your apps/data so you can easily recover from flashing new versions of Carbon (or other ROMs...traitor)? Please describe your process with detail, I wish to have ALL the opinions and knowledge this community has to offer.

Ti is my standard. I always use an update.zip and flash it into /system whilst installing a ROM so that it's already there and preconfigured, no need to grab it from the store. Then I restore all my apps. Groovy.

I use update.zip from Titanium Backup every time I need to factory reset, then I use Nandroid Manager to restore texts, call logs, wifi access points etc.

just wanna rant a bit... stupid reader hub. some how... the new version disabled the ability to add/ read my own ebooks.

recall it used to allow me to add my own ePub books... today, wanted to add another book and I can't find the option... cr4p. lucky for me... Google Play Book is enabled on my phone. so, gonna just start using that instead.

Why not use other readers? Aldiko, Moon and others...

Coolreader for the CHM support. I think it was the only one when I installed it. Seems Moon+ also has CHM and even CBR and CBZ support now.

How much?

btw, just bought a new Note 2 for wife yesterday, anywhere i got some good read up on how to use the S-Pen???

Thanks.

Welcome. Post 5 has a link to tips and tricks, you can check it out. There's nothing much to read up unless you want to make special gestures for it which you can. Use it like a normal pen. Post 12 has a selection of apps that can replace S-Note functionality if you wish.

Post 3 has a few samples to S-pen art using stuff like Sketchbook.

I noticed, if I charged my phone (from the battery being lower than 10%) at 700mA or 1.2A, my SOT would be twice as longer than if I charged it at 2A.

Anyone noticed this too?
*
Eh??? That's strange. So you get DOUBLE SOT?

This could be worth checking out, but this means that a charger with that output is necessary. S3 is 1A, S2 is 700mA.

Or perhaps a limit of charging by using a lower rated cable with the 2A charger?

Yes. With similar usage pattern...

Monday: Was in a rush, started charging the phone at 3am in the morning with 2A and went to bed. Woke up at 6am and unplugged it, left home at 7am and started using it since.

Tuesday: Charged the phone overnight from 12mn with my Galaxy W 0.7A charger and went to bed, unplugged it at 6am and started using at 7am.

Today: Charged the phone overnight from 2 am with my 2A charger (but I unticked both 'ignore margin' and 'unstable power' for today) and GCC shows me a reading of 1.2A.

So, Monday's battery life was so terrible. It lasted up until 4pm with 2h30m of SOT, 5% battery then I decided to swap my data SIM card to my cracked Note 2. Tuesday, similar usage but half the call time; SOT almost reaching 5h with 20% remaining. Today, lecture day, didn't use my phone much, I did 2h13m SOT with 63% battery remaining or about 36 mins / 10%

*I charge with my phone in airplane mode
*I use my phone in blocks of about 10-15 minutes
*Frequent replies to Whatsapp/SMS
*DATA/3G is on all the time
*screen is set to about 20% brightness/100% outdoors
*battery temperature averages at 35'c during usage

Wanamlite v1.3|Perseus 36.3|1.2GHz, undervolted to borderline stability, min GPU @ 54MHz|Power saving = off
*
hmm.gif worth investigating a bit, but I think your Monday usage of 2h SOT may mean some bad wakelocks?

My usage has never exceeded 4.5hrs SOT even when I was charging with the Nokia CA-101 which can only carry 1.1A, and on a bad day I get about 3hrs SOT. I have the BBS widget on my homescreen which shows Wakelocks live, so when the Wakelocks bar gets long, I check, and sometime a reboot solves it.

Wakelocks are pretty much the same everyday, 45m to 1.5h of mdm_hsic_pm0 (this is because of I turned on data) and 30 mins of PowerManagerService, 20+ mins of AudioOut_2 (probably accumulated from all those ringtones)

((Xa))0102 and all interested in charging, some posts from Androidforums

pretty long discussion, maybe some BS, but informative although it does not address your finding.

Will there be an active variant for note 3? I went hiking a lot so a waterproof note will be so much better! Even with liquipel coatong I still don't trust my phone with water. Usage under light rain is okay la for me with liquipel
*
I guess if they could have a waterproof earphone jack on the S4 Active, then I don't see any reason why they can't do the same for Note 3. In fact the stylus silo should be easy to seal off from the rest of the phone frame cavity.

Slap on an Otterbox Defender-type casing for that and it will probably survive a hiking fall better than you tongue.gif

The 3G version N7100 has a radio. The n7105 LTE version does not.

and i using win7 (non sp1) but why everytime i plug my note 2 into pc always say missing UID ? so painful must always reinstall the kies... sad.gif
*
AOSP = Android Open Source Project
CM = CyanogenMod, based on AOSP

Missing UID? Haven't encountered that before. It shouldn't be a Kies re-install but a driver re-install.
