by logic, Service center MIGHT accept warranties.

The unit you buy is not getting 1 year warranty at all. They refer to the date they release from Factory. So you kira the time taken for the unit to be delivered to US, then being grey import to Malaysia again. That might burn up at least 2.5~3 months for transportation. That means you spending 2K plus for a product which got less than 10 months warranty.

Talked to Lenovo service center at lowyat plaza level 4 before how they handle AP unit

They will accept the unit provided if user have local receipt. But once Lenovo find out the submitted unit is AP set, they will inform the user about the reject of RMA claim

what lenovo replied is quite simple:

The unit's receipt need to be from where is meant to be sold.
for example an US unit, with US issued receipt = LENOVO MALAYSIA WILL honor the service
What if:
US unit with Malaysian issued Receipt= AP unit/Grey import, LENOVO MALAYSIA WILL NOT honor service EVEN THOU warranty checkup by lenovo website showing it's still under coverage.

i just refer to the answer given by lenovo forum. I believe it's clear enough what's the answer already
