Kaspersky Internet Security is doing the job for normal users.

For me, i just want to save the trouble.

Prior using the KIS, i have to,

periodically visit my friend,

plug out the hard disk from my laptop,

let him scan using paid version anti malware while chit-chatting with him,

plug back the hdd into the laptop.

That is my histroy for a person who concern about the computer security, but unwilling to pay RM 33 per year because at that time it represents xx% of my monthly allowance.

When i got my laptop in 2007, i only know about scanning the incoming media like USB pen drive. Until my friend explain the need of the internet threats and manage my own laptop's security properly, only then i willing to pay for the KIS.

I say KIS is sufficient for me for primary use. For those who perfer other AV, i say internet security is sufficient. Some AV comes with the total protection features that can only perform better than the disk cleanup. I prefer use the tuneup trial. it is best for me in term for maintaining the computer.

+1 on scanning USB pen drive.. and for goat sake, disable autoruns and autoplay(for vista and above). more than half of my customer got virus from USB drive via autorun. It is not that difficult to explore a USB drive and double click on the file you want, but it takes few hours to clean pc infected with Virut or Ramnit virus.

however, users not familiar with the regedit, please do not simply edit it. otherwise your PC cannot boot up during next startup if you screw up the registry.

Avast! Internet Security 5 for me

You pay for it?

actualy avast free already hv most of the functions of internet security.
avast internet security jz add 2-3 more functions, so i choose to use the free ver

Can anyone suggest an alternative internet security software? For purpose of comparison.

I ever used Kaspersky Internet Security and Avira Premium before they expired. No complaints for KIS, but Avira Premium sucks big time.

Before I decide to renew / purchase new KIS, can anyone suggest an alternative? I just want to compare.

yeah, avira premium security really sucks...it slowed my web surfing, issues with the firewall especially when comes to online gaming...higher ping latency

I heard my friend that uses the Avira IS have to shut down the firewall only then can access friendster. Otherwise, he is having a hard time to login.

since u'r using paid version, i suggest u to use ESET or NIS, it's realy gd.

My father used NIS. I don't know why he seems to be like it very much.

NIS is not bad thou, the latest version had improved alot, u might as well gv it a try, since ur dad also like NIS

even the panda internet security will give headache sometime, as some page refused to load..same goes to avira case

My dad refuse to continue to use the Norton after he saw F secure trial screwed up his pc.

It will take sometime for me to convince him again.
