Find a job in Jurong west ? biggrin.gif

Where is you office located ? There are some quite central places like Whampoa, St George, Jln. Rajah going for around $600 (common room), a few bus stops away from MRT if you don't want to stay in too ulu places. smile.gif

What I mean here is I cant figure out why they are willing to spend 90 mins instead of going to the next door to have Western?

I seldom see this kind of scenario is KL. I wont waste this kind of time.

because the food is good and the shop is small ?

Wait till you see in HK, some sushi places with the queue (especially if they have special promotion / sale) from outside the shop to the streets.

Agreed with you.

This is one point I hate SG.

Imagine you wanted to buy today's papers at a 7-Eleven. You go round and round the car-park in a HDB for 15 mins to search for a parking lot (perhaps in the 5th floor in the car-park if you are really unfortunate that day).

Thereafter, you walk down and buy your papers which only takes you 10 secs and you walk-back to collect your car. Does it make sense to you?

In KL, no one really cares whether you park your car legally or illegally. Take your own sweet time to have a pack of nasi lemak while buy your favourite magazines at the 7-11.

Now, this is call human rights freedom.

Is it possible to get a single room in whampoa at around SG500? one agent was trying to push his unit at yew tee.. saying that over here is more expensive lar, and other nonsense... dun really like his attitude... lc and simply jacking up the prices for a lousy HDB

now exploring bradell...
*
I got mine for $550 (no aircon) about a year + ago. You can look for nearby areas near Whampoa like
Jalan Tenteram
Jalan Limau
Jalan Rajah
St. George Lane
McNair Road

Did a random search on propertyguru - around 600 to 800, there is one 550 on McNair

because we are very frugal, we save and save and eat roti kosong (prata) everyday so that we spend across the causeway tongue.gif

Actually my SG phone I don't use it that much. $10 reload can last me about a month (And thats for the incoming call charges, outgoing and weekly $1 for data extension).

Where you go ? so cheap $20 with shot summore.

One drink in each pub around $10+ already, 4 = $40++, Normally in one pub with a few round of drinks (or jug), already spend around $50+ lioa.

Just a curious question smile.gif

Anyone here know if the money (SG salary which have been taxed by SG IRAS) which we bring back (either by TT or hand carry, etc) need to be declared to LHDN ? (since the rate is so good now)

Found a clause in

Pendapatan Diremit Dari Luar Malaysia

Mulai tahun taksiran 2004, pendapatan yang diperoleh dari luar Malaysia dan diterima di Malaysia oleh seseorang individu yang bermastautin dan diremitkan ke Malaysia dikecualikan daripada cukai pendapatan.

but we are not a resident (bermastautin) in Malaysia.

Later when you buy house or car, you get a letter titled 'Urusan Paduka Baginda' asking you where you get your $$$ and is taxable.

But you are Malaysian which automatically makes you are resident of Malaysia (rakyat). It does not mean that you must reside in Malaysia. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
*
the resident (bermastautin) here mean tax resident, you must be in Malaysia for 183 days in a year to be a tax resident (similar to Singapore)

Tuan,
Terima kasih.

If you notice from the malay news in SG or Lee Hsien Loong's national day rallies etc... the govt in SG is referred to as "Pemerintah", and not "Kerajaan" because there is no Raja in SG.
*
Pemerintah is actually a term used in Indonesia for government. If you remember back in the 80s to 90s, government was refereed to as kerajaan in Malaysia (even for republics) but those itchy backside decide to change and change the bahasa kebangsaan (like baru = bahru).

now if not mistaken means
pemerintah = goverment
kerajaan = kingdom

QUOTE(seantang @ Sep 7 2013, 02:19 AM)
LOL, I live in SG and make S$20k a month just from entertaining customers or entertaining my secretary when she's sitting on my lap... Not including tonight's dinner at a Michelin star restaurant wherer which I spent another S$4k on company credit card... Sorry to say, my life's not as hectic as yours. Have to trade here, trade there, lose money as often as make money.

Siaw, so many dumb people living in KL!!

So its MYR3.7 vs MYR7.25 (converted at 2.5x). That's almost 2x (approx. 95% upside) on your current salary after conversion.  I think it's acceptable esp. if your role has the potential to grow in the future.

In a related news, a bank recently offered someone SGD4.3k for a role. That same person currently earns MYR8k++ here. Talk about low-balling.

Similarly, some idiot recruiter told me that my "realistic" salary in SGD is XXX which is equal to 15% upside of my MYR pay ....after conversion to SGD. So if I earned MYR10k, he was thinking that SGD4.6k (MYR10k/2.5 + 15%) is a fair price for my labour. I promptly told him off.

After the above 2 real-life scenarios, I'm seriously wondering about the ethical and mental (short) comings of our southern recruiters . I guess they are looking to recruit monkeys with their peanut level pay.
