There is a certain brand of milk out there that made me lou sai after i drank it (I don't remember the brand but i remember the packaging is red in colour), so have to stick to HL milk. After that incident, don't dare to try any other brand of milk other than HL. Cheese, cheesecake, soymilk is fine for me. Furthermore HL milk tastes like vanilla ice-cream....yummy.

Exactly. HL has given lactose intolerant individuals no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this brand to those who would like milk to be one of their main sources of protein.

Everybody is lactose intolerant, it just depends on the severity. Gradually increasing your milk intake will ease you into in without causing too much discomfort. Start off with milk substitutes and slowly add dairy to your diet. I was diagnosed as with lactose intolerance as a child and spent the better half of my early years on Enercal. Today, I eat cheese on a regular basis, and consume up to 2-4 glasses of milk a day without having to worry about stomach pains.

These milk products may be easier to digest:

-Buttermilk and cheeses (they have less lactose than milk)

-Fermented milk products, such as yogurt

-Goat's milk (but drink it with meals, and make sure it is supplemented with essential amino acids and vitamins if you give it to children)

-Ice cream, milkshakes, and aged or hard cheeses

-Lactose-free milk and milk products

-Lactase-treated cow's milk for older children and adults

-Soy formulas for infants younger than 2 years

-Soy or rice milk for toddlers

You'd be surprised to know that most Malaysians are lactose intolerant. A survey on 300 Malaysians (Malay, Chinese & Indians, aged 18-49 showed at least 80% of them were lactose intolerant.

Basically lactose intolerant individuals are those whose body cannot produce enough enzyme lactase to digest the milk sugar, lactose. Not everyone is born lactose intolerant. Most people are born with the gene to produce the enzyme. But with age (and also less frequency of drinking milk), our body’s ability to make this enzyme diminishes. Hence whenever a lactose intolerant person drinks milk (or anything with high lactose), he will experience bloated, nausea and even diarrhea as his body cannot digest the lactose. Reducing milk products from your diet is one of the best ways to prevent this problem. You may also opt to split your consumption to 2-3 times a day. But it depends on individual’s reaction to lactose too. For me, even coffee laced with a bit of cow’s milk is sufficient to cause bloating and diarrhea =(

Kefir is good for those who are lactose intolerant as some of the lactose have been converted to lactic acid.

Here! Check it out:-

The digestive enzyme lactase may help to break down lactose to make your milk based food more tolerable.

My daughter used to have this problem with stomach upset after ingesting milk, until she started in digestive enzymes. She doesn;t take it regularly..maybe twice a week or so.
