At first I think the move make by Nintendo is "retarded". After long time of thinking. It becames "brilliantly retarded"
The name Revolution is not very suitable anyway. Why?
If you see the funny poster my last post , you see the name "Revolution" will be outdated and obsolete after a few years (and after Sony and MS copy the controller for PS3 and XBOX 360)
You should think about what market Nintendo targeting, fanboys will certainly get it even they don't like the name (it's the games that matters), people who shuns gaming before will be attracted to Wii because of its elegant design and unique gameplay (not to mention without stereotype names like Playstation, GameCube or XBOX.
The people who bashing it doesen't give it a damn for Nintendo's next-gen console even it's still called Revolution. They just sit in and wait an oppertunity to hackle it when they smell something. Go play with your Gizmondo or whatever!

think about it for a little bit.
by using the lame-ass Wii name, EVERYBODY, and i mean EVERY-FCUKING-body is talking about it. love the name or hate it, you're now bound to know what it is.
is that smart marketing or what?

Original GC project name!! DOLPHIN!!
Original Wii project name!! REVOLUTION!!
The lesson? Nintendo does super hip market research costing billions of dollars for their project names. Then they get a retarded monkey to randomly sit on a keyboard to determine the final name.

After several years, it'll not be revolution anymore. Wii is easier to remember and pronounce although it sounds silly. Does the name iPod describe its function? No. How about Viiv? It generates controversy. It's free publicity. Perhaps they can start a true revolution just as noisy as the iPod's has been. It all starts with a name. My only worry is games will be named -Wii. I mean Super Mario Wii would just not be right This post has been edited by fariz: Apr 29 2006, 08:08 AM

QUOTE Wii 's spec will be similar to old xbox... i wonder how's the graphic a total wrong there. same processor clock speed, same ram capacity, but TOTALLY DIFFERENT architecture. are you saying a 700mhz powerpc apple computer is just as slow as a 700mhz intel windoz pc? you just can't compare the two. (yes, the recent IGN article on this was total bullshit)
