Hi, can help noobie here? been on laptop for 4 years, now finishing studies, want to build a PC tongue.gif

[Budget] 2k-2.5k (the lower, the better)+RM299 Casing

[Purpose] Primarily lots of photo editing+Adobe stuffs, and games

[Hardware that will be reuse from old rig] 21" Monitor (My sis want to giv)

[Monitor resolution] Forgot to ask my sis sweat.gif But I do plan to upgrade in future for better resolution (1080 maybe?)

[Game or software that use frequently] Adobes, future might be games. Been a while since I play latest games, but interested to try some included Assasins creed/Mass effect series. also PES/FIFA and some MMORPG

[Personal Preference Brand] I need Bitfenix Prodigy (Japan Edition from garage sale reseller) for several personal reasons (not because it's cute sweat.gif ), and optional, hope to fix into my budget a wifi mobo sweat.gif

can I fit in 7870/GTX660 into my rig? it's ok if can't (because I saw that these are recommended for BF4, also interested, but not too eager to play)

[Location] KL

oh, 1 more, is it possible to build a PC that have ability to support dual monitor in future with current budget? If cannot, how much should I topup? SSD can wait until next time maybe.. sweat.gif

Thanks everyone. If anything is ok, would buy them on next month after some financial planning done thumbup.gif

i5 4430-RM569
ASRock B85M-ITX-RM285
Kingston 1x8GB Value RAM-RM189
Zotac GTX760-RM799
WD Caviar Blue 1TB-RM189
Bitfenix Prodigy-RM299
-No optical drive-
Super Flower Golden Green HX 600W-RM299
Total: RM2629

Prices from GBros@Garage Sales.  Note that the board doesn't come with Wifi, which means you will need to purchase a wireless adapter separately.  FYI, the Prodigy is a massive ITX case.  There are some mATX cases that are not much larger than this.
*
ok, no problems. noted about the prodigy. I actually plan to move it around frequently, so the handle on the prodigy is a great small additional feature. moreover, this is my first build, so smaller form factor might be a little harder for me to handle with cable management
thanks for this specs bro. this looks awesome rclxms.gif

a quick google find out that gtx760 is better than gtx660. is this true?

err, sorry, 1 more. 600W PSU is it too much? or your suggestion is because it's for my later upgrades?

Yup, future upgrades... Who knows if you want to go AMD R9-290X later on? brows.gif
Did you consider the Prodigy M?  It's like the mATX version of the OG Prodigy. tongue.gif
*
I'll go for prodigy since there's a good deal in garage sale that gives free 230mm front intake and 120mm rear fan drool.gif

Hi guys, my previous build as suggested by chocobo7779 is as below

Is it ok if I wait for R9270X? coz I saw at LYN's front page, R9 270X 4GBGDDR5 is only around RM729. saw the benchmarks posted by AMD, it's quite impressive. should there be any change on other hardware?

I can wait if R9270X is better choice since the price is very tempting biggrin.gif

Up to you, but GTX 760 is still around 12% faster than R9 270X. Of course, 760 is slightly more expensive, but if that price you mentioned is correct then R9 270X is a good  option also.
*
oh, since I have the budget, GTX760 is better then?

Bro, I also building sub RM2500 rig, and I saw your suggestion to eehtsitna. by swapping GTX760 with Sapphire Toxic R9 280X OC, this rig is actually right for RM2500 budget.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

my question, is the PSU enough to power this? one more, which hardware is bottlenecking this build in case I want to upgrade in future. I will change 4GB ram to 8GB since I do lots of photo editing. is there any suggestion for haswell i5? doesn't actually matter, but if have, then it's ok. I only casual gamers though, but do want to try most of latest games since my laptop is not a powerful one..
my previous build as suggested by chocobo7779 is as below. I need the prodigy. but saw that Sapphire Toxic R9 280X OC can fit within RM2500 budget, I think I'm willing the sacrifice the small mobility factor it has

Casual gamer?what kinda games you play? hmm.gif

Starcraft is a must, then crysis(s), mass effect(s). interested to play batman:arkham series also besides some COD, Battlefield. I'm not currently play lots of games coz my laptop is poorly old core2duo, it have the capability to play SF4 at low setting, but I see lots of 4 year old laptop died already, so, no games now.

hi, I wonder this rig will do. comment?

CPU- i5 3330 RM539
Mobo- Asrock B75M DGS RM199
RAM- Kingstone 8GB value RM220
GPU- SAPPHIRE R9 280X RM1200+- (still not sure which one yet)
HDD- WD Blue 1TB RM189
PSU- CoolerMaster GX 550W RM219
-no ODD-
Casing- CM N200 RM150
-total- RM2716

- For game (SC2, Crysis(s), Batman(s), 'Steams', BFs, CODs, some small MMO, some new titles)
- Lots of photo editing (Photoshop, lightroom)
- I try to keep the price down, is the CM GX 550W good for this setup?
- In future, I might go dual monitor setup, does is cost power from my PSU?
- Also price wise, is it worth to use haswell processor by adding RM120 more by swapping i5 3330 with i5 4430 and Asrock B75 DGS with B85 Pro4? lets say I'm in tight budget sweat.gif
- GPU wise, is it worth to go for Toxic/Vapor-X version rather than cheapest OC-ed from Sapphire?
- 1600x900 monitor, and occasionally might use 1080p TV. might upgrade 1080p monitor in future also.
- no ODD since I got one already from old desktop. tested, still good eventhough been idle for 5 years sweat.gif

*addition* I'm building this hope that it can still be used in future photoshop version (4-5 years more). I don't actually care for ultra setting in game, I think in 2 years I appreciate if still can use medium

*Prices are from Viewnet*

any comment/critique are highly appreciated.

oh yeah, sorry to add. actually 2.5k, but can spare some for around this value, 2.7k. if haswell is worth the addition RM120, I'll think a way to fit them in my budget.. sweat.gif

wowww. I never thought I can include xeon in my setup biggrin.gif looks very good. so, multi monitor setup doesn't need more PSU power? and a gtx760 is ok already for my requirement?

guys, I've been looking at mobo asrock B85M Pro4 and B85M-HDS, I see the fan connector in B85M-HDS is only 1 for chasis fan. let's say I end up buying B85M-HDS as my mobo and my chasis come with 2 fan. how do I make the 2nd fan spins? sorry, I'm still new in rig building sweat.gif

hi guys, regarding my friend's rig, as suggested by mr CheaTeRz,

QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ Nov 4 2013, 12:39 AM)
CORE I5 4570 1150 3.20 6MB RM609
ASROCK H81M-DGS 1150 RM179
Value RAM 8GB PC1600 D3 RM229
LEADTEK GTX650TI boost 1GB D5 128 RM499 change to>> LEADTEK GTX650 1GB D5 128 RM389 (since he only play dota2, football related, this is ok already)
WD Blue 1TB SATA 3 184 - RM189
DVD-RW 24X SATA INT RM59
CM N200 RM150
FSP HEXA RM149

TOTAL RM2022 >> RM1953
*
he asked me, if he have an extra RM300 more, which is wiser for him to change,
- CPU (to Xeon E3 1230 V3) or
- mobo (to better chipset, maybe B85?)
- GPU (he stress to me he dun play high end game, might be a waste to upgrade according to him sweat.gif )
- or better get an SSD?

review back his usage: lots of photo editing software (photoshop/illustrator/lightroom) with occasional gaming (dota 2, pes)
