Hey guys, I plan on buying a full PC set including a monitor as soon as possible and I need some help. My budget is around RM4000-5000 and the PC will be mainly for gaming. I have decided on getting an i7 instead of an i5 but apart from that, I have absolutely no idea what GPU, PSU, and so on to get. I would really appreciate a price and product breakdown like @CheaTeRz did above This post has been edited by Pain_X: May 22 2013, 06:00 PM

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ May 22 2013, 07:04 PM) This is an example of a system that may meet your expectations : Intel Core i7 3770 / Xeon E3-1230V2 - RM889 / RM749 Total : RM4993/RM4853 The Xeon E3-1230v2 processor has the a performance level equal or close to the Intel Core i7 3770, and it's cheaper too, so it makes it a rather worthwhile purchase. However if you insist on going with an Intel Core i7 processor instead, there's the i7 3770 for you to choose. QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ May 22 2013, 07:15 PM) |PROC| CORE I7 3770 3.40|RM869| | *I'd take xeon rather than i7 because of rather almost same performance on cheaper price **this is what i would imagine getting, other please refine this Wow thanks a lot guys! Its comforting to see a lot of similarities in the recommendations! I admit I dont know much about Xeon. Ill do some googling about it but its quite strange that its performance is similar yet almost rm150 cheaper. My only problem at the moment is the graphics card. Is there a big difference between the Sapphires and Asus'? Again thanks a lot!

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ May 22 2013, 07:34 PM) Marketing strategies and brand name, source of components used for their cards, circuit layout, and others. Other than that they both offer cards which have similar performance (if same model, e.g HD7970 with HD7970). Ah so essentially the HD 7970 is about the same, performance wise, with the gtx680?

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ May 22 2013, 07:39 PM) They have a similar level of performance depending on the game you play. Alrighty! The way i see, i dont think i can go very wrong with either one of those 2 cards then! Is there any other card you would recommend that could last me about 4-5 years? Thanks a lot for your help bro

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ May 22 2013, 07:46 PM) If you're talking about durability, it's a hit or miss with most people. It may last for several years, or it may last for just a year or two before requiring replacement. Performance wise they should be able to satisfy you for quite some time to come, but don't expect too much as the prettier new games are, the more graphical processing power they'll require. Expect to change your card once every two to three years depending on what you have bought, and depending on how much you demand when playing . Haha,i know what you mean! But my 9800 GT managed to last me for almost 4 years so I think it should be fine Thanks again man, Ill be following both your recommendations when i build my PC and ill probably settle on either one of GTX680 or HD7970. Ill also follow your recommendation regarding the Xeon. Cheers mate!

QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ May 22 2013, 07:56 PM) remember tho, the only setbacks regarding xeon is that its not capable to overclock AT ALL and there is no Integrated GPU on board, so you need GPU attached at all time I actually dont know what the "no IGPU on board" means Will that affect the use of the PC much? Because i mainly gonna use it for gaming only lol Since im quite an amateur user, I dont think the inability to overclock means a lot rite..?

QUOTE(CheaTeRz @ May 22 2013, 08:21 PM) just in case you going to send your graphic card for a warranty, you won't be able to use motherboard graphic input/output as usual since the proc doesn't support any on board graphic. sorry if its hard to understand well, that's why for non oc'er, i'd prefer to take xeon if they wish to get performance of i7 haha ok i get it bro!! Sorry im quite a noob when it comes to these stuff I agree with u bro, I think ill go for the Xeon e3 1230v2!! Only graphic card headache now
