I'm sure those of you who frequently follow this thread may remember me.

I sent my phone for 3rd time warranty replacement last month because of entire housing got hairline cracks all over the silver bezel. (previously sent for warranties for same reason over and over again)

Right now, hairline cracks starting to form again all over the silver bezel. 4th time this is happening already doh.gif

Warranty over liao since last week. Why this isolated incident problem keep happening to me cry.gif

(Old pic from 2nd time happened, but the crack is exactly at the same place and looks exactly the same)

what's your working environment, it's weird when it happens again and again.
did they tell u any reason why this is happening to your phone? and what are the fixes they did to your phone?
maybe u can send an official complain to them?
*
They just swapped my phone housing with a brand new one.
They just blamed the cracks formed because of the casing that I'm using.

First time it happened, I was using a Rock brand hard plastic casing (frankly it was pretty hard and solid so I believed them)

Second time it happened, I switched to Rock QuickSand casing (I figured it would be better since it was made of much softer soft-touch material. This time I was starting to doubt it's the casing fault)

Third time it happened, I was using a generic no brand thin flimsy plastic casing (which is as flimsy and soft as paper)

This time, I purposely used my phone naked to eliminate all possible casing related causes. Yet it has happened again, for the fourth time even though my phone has been NAKED since the last warranty claim shakehead.gif

-------------------------------------------------

I only dropped my phone twice before (both times when my phone was within 2 months old). But neither of those drops caused any cracking. Since then I have been very careful not to drop my phone or cause any impact to the phone (so far haven't drop it anymore since then brows.gif )
The first crack only appeared when my phone was approximately 5 months old.

Feel like sending an official complaint, but I doubt they will do anything since it's not covered under warranty as it is an exterior damage. The 3 times that I managed to claim warranty was because the people at the service centre were helpful and kind. They helped me claim under warranty even though the T&C said otherwise.

In that respect, kudos to Samsung service centre for having excellent customer service thumbup.gif

I don't blame Samsung as I seem to be one of the only people who constantly face this problem over and over again.

Just bad luck I guess doh.gif

Not sure what's the hype about Samsung 4.2 in s3

aosp rom are better for me.
Don't think I will flash touch wiz rom again on s3
Custom aosp rom have
~led customization, fading effect is good. Those paid app doesn't even come close.
~on screen keys. Very intuitive and make phone usage a lot faster

Why you guys like touch wiz?
Any fantastic feature absent in aosp that I'm missing?
*
Well we buy the S3 because not only we're buying the phone, we're also buying for touchwiz.

Different people have different tastes. I myself like the style of stock android, but I do appreciate the functionalities that touchwiz provides (for example, able to custom arrange app drawer icons).
4.2.2 is just an improved version of touchwiz that provides useful features for example like lockscreen widgets that I appreciate. Plus some extra novelty features such as the S4-inspired light flare style lockscreen effect.

Of course, AOSP will provide the more up-to-date version of android for S3 when samsung decides to stop pushing updates for the S3. That's only when I will probably jump over to AOSP. But for now, I think touchwiz's functionalities and novelty features are pretty neat, even though not all of them are particularly useful.

The way you're phrasing your opinion is as if we're all freaks for using touchwiz and only AOSP is the best.

Like i said, different people have different tastes smile.gif

I can get note 2 already by that price LOL
*
compared to note 2, it's actually very similar in specs, just a little bit of tradeoffs here and there

Processor = Mega 6.3 Better (judging from benchmark scores)
RAM = Mega 6.3 has 1.5GB, Note 2 has 2GB
Screen type = Mega 6.3 is SuperLCD, Note 2 is AMOLED
Screen Resolution = both 720p
Camera = Both phones use the same cameras and optics (according to PhoneArena)

Mega 6.3 has 4G LTE as standard.

Note 2 has S-pen (not sure if note 2 has 4G LTE as standard or not though)

In conclusion, i guess for the price you're paying for either handsets, it's just a matter of what features you want brows.gif

One thing i realised between old 4.2.2 leak and new 4.2.2 leak.

The new 4.2.2 leak doesn't have the camera lockscreen widget anymore.
(swipe right to activate camera lockscreen widget)
