QUOTE(Hertz96 @ Aug 21 2013, 05:30 AM) Root for this already out? There AR video + written instructions on xda forums. Just head down there and have a look. My advice is to root your device first before you install anything into your tablet as you will need to unlock the bootloader first for rooting the device, and unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data. I had to setup my tablet twice :-(

QUOTE(gin&tonic @ Aug 21 2013, 08:15 AM) Need root for OTG function. Without root u can use Nexus Media Impoter which is a paid app in Playstore. OTG for accessing pen drive requires root OTG for mouse or keyboard doesn't require root.

Wondering whether it will fix the wake lag issue when using a magnetic book cover
Just went through the xda forums and an user confirmed that the Gps issue is being solved! Hope that that's the case :-)

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Aug 23 2013, 10:19 AM) According to them, it fix multi touch and gps issue. So for those having issue can download the factory image and try. I've backup my device, downloaded the image and just wait for for few days for it to push. If still did not receive OTA update on sunday, then i will flash it. I have downloaded the factory image, I have a question here, does pushing the image wipe the ddevice? Do I use wug toolkit to do it? I have searched the Internet but can't really seem to find the answer.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Aug 23 2013, 10:37 AM) normally it will not wipe it unless got issue during update due to you have modified system files. So best practice, backup first. If failed, then wipe/flash. Wug toolkit -yes. if need to flash Do you know where can I find a step by step guide on using wug toolkit to do the update manually? I found out that a rooted device will have a failiinstallation in the end of an OTA update

Follow the steps from this website. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/08/10/ho...ge-and-root-it/Summary: 1. Download the latest official image from google development website : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#razor2. Download Android SDK development tools from this website: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.htmlupon finishing the downloads: 1. extract the image file (.tgz) and place it on C drive or D drive (anywhere on the computer will do) 2. on Android SDK folder, navigate to sdk ---> platform-tools and copy (a) AdbWinApi.dll (b) AdbWinUsbApi.dll (c ) fastboot.exe then paste these into the extracted image folder. 3. to keep your data from being wiped : Proceed with this step if you want to keep your data intact. If you skip this step, your data will be wiped. With your favorite text editor, edit (be careful not to run it by accident instead of editing) flash-all.bat (if you're on Windows) or flash-all.sh (Mac, Linux) and remove "-w" from the fastboot update command. For example, if the line reads fastboot -w update image-razor-jss15q.zip, it should now read fastboot update image-razor-jss15q.zip. The -w option instructs fastboot to wipe data.4. Reboot into the bootloader and click on the flash-all.bat that you have just edited and saved. the tablet will now be flashing the new firmware version This method worked for me, i am just trying to help so flash at your own risk!! (this will disable your root privilege and requires you to reroot the device This post has been edited by RedDevils88: Aug 23 2013, 04:15 PM

QUOTE(JayceOoi @ Aug 24 2013, 03:25 PM) Based on users in XDA, multi-touch issue still there on JSS15Q. I can confirm that the multi-touch issue still persist after the latest firmware update. That's what happened to my colleague's unit. However, I think it solved my gps issue

QUOTE(CyberKewl @ Aug 24 2013, 10:03 AM) btw anyone with a case like moko or poetic case (or any other case that has sleep/wake function using the magnet)? I noticed my n7 takes longer than usual to wake after say few hours (or even after 30 minutes) - it takes about almost 30 seconds to wake it..but if u just close it, then open it back immediately the wake is instantaneous - but if you leave it long enough, it doesnt wake up immediately - anyone face similar issue? Yes this issue has been confirmed. I have this problem too. Just let a random case I bought from taobao, and the wake up function has a delay.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Aug 24 2013, 08:14 AM) Wow..i think everyone should do the same. This is what i've tried yesterday before went to sleep. 1. My N7 is fully charge. So i dont want to waste battery therefore decided to turn it off. 2. Then this morning when turn on, it has went to X (bootloop). It cannot up even tried several time. Tries Power on + Vol Up. It went to android with explanation mark. (dead) 3. So scared. Then decide to use Wugfresh and flash to latest image that i have downloaded yesterday. 4. Finally managed to flash it and boot it. That was lucky. (wonder is it because it have download stickmount and test for USB OTG). Anyway, you guy should try power off and power on again to see any issue. Bootloop is a common issue on the nexus 7

QUOTE(un_id @ Aug 25 2013, 05:23 PM) saw this in Best Buy while in US 3 weeks ago.. got discount that time, i think the price was US$219 something, which is just RM700++ only.. but i was silly that i thought that Asus not having international warranty. thus i refrain myself from buying it as i couldn't find much review yet if there is any problem with the earliest batch on this device, so afraid if got any problem i will be in trouble with warranty claim.. i should have buy it that time..cheapest mainstream quad core device plus excellent support from Google, most value for money Then have you bought one yet?

QUOTE(Cynox @ Aug 26 2013, 05:32 PM) haha.. just teasing you. Your mindset is typical potential buyers' mindset - try looking for issues, problem, or some nitpick features, etc., like some bros mentioned in the earlier pages of this thread. Once you bought it, then only you realise why you do not buy it earlier. Btw, i actually din notice there is any improvement on the screen reso compared to first gen, placing the 2 side by side. But after using it for about 2 weeks, i pick up my first gen Nexus 7 again yesterday night then only i realised the first gen screen is kinda grainy - can notice the lower res screen effect now. Try setting the brightness to the highest and the lowest for both the nexus and see the difference

QUOTE(vostro78 @ Aug 26 2013, 05:11 PM) hi, i plan to get the new nex7 with 3g function....but before that i want to confirm one thing... as the nex7 does not comes with call function for old . new model.... any custom rom manage to convert it to phone? or the call function is hard ware dependent ? i just think if can flash with phone function that it will be an bonus feature although i don think i will use tablet as phone anymore. Why do you need to a phone function when you think you're not going to use the tablet as a phone. I think this question can be answered by searching on the net. Maybe the galaxy tab would be a better option for you. It has a larger screen too.

QUOTE(Superman7 @ Aug 26 2013, 08:54 PM) I think it's not an official warranty. AP set warranty. In terms of spec, N7 is definitely much better. It's a different league and therefore incomparable at the moment. Wait for iPad mini 2 and then it would be a better comparison. no u are wrong superman, the Nexus 7 has the Asus international warranty. you can claim it from the official asus service center at Jalan Imbi.
