Who will protest against this? Walking distance 400m should be good... Expect 1 of the station at Mutiara Complex and another will be around Viva Condo there.
*
For elevated rail, it will pose noise issue to units with direct facing. If underground shouldnt be any noise issue.

i find it really funny when people protest against mrt. in developed places like singapore, taiwan, china, people beg for mrt, even if its 15 mins away or pass in front of their window. malaysia still underdeveloped in both mental and physical.
*
Ppl do not want the MRT tracks to pass their property which will affect their life. The noise, construction etc.

Only properties around the stations would immensely enjoy the benefit.

My guess some low ridership station cut hmm.gif

Bandar Malaysia sure gone 😎

If gov has intention to develop BM, it has to put the station(s) there. To build/add underground station is not the same as elevated Station.

BM is at least 20-30years project.

Gamuda helps previous gov in money laundry.

This punishment consider light already
*
If there is evident.. Gov should catch/trial the directors in the court as well as fining the company as punishment to shareholders. If the element of corruption is proven.

Shelving a project (especially when it is 40% completed) and re-tendering especially for public project at this scale is foolish. There are so many implications which not just on "paper saving" requested by government.

To prove corruption in the court of law is not easy. They have perfect the method for 61yrs already.

You n i dont have to worried but yr children n cucu will carry the burden

You want short term gain or long term suffering?
*
You implied there is a corruption.. If yes, they should charge the directors and fine the company. If no... Then negotiate gentlemanly as per rule of law... If the intention is to save cost.

The decision taken in past gov... You cannot punish the stakeholders who affected by it.. There are so many sites, road diversion, ppl who work direct or indirectly... Furthermore the progress is 40%.

The debt maybe long term but bear in mind mrt is the solution to address long term traffic problem.

so I think, we can already know which company (specifically from which country) would win the upcoming tunneling job whistling.gif

It is normal
You win some you lose some project. Gamuda maybe more familiar with site and put lower margin. Other international players may put higher margin.

The mrt line will be there

Whether u want to pay xxbillion or x billion knowing very well that whatever differences are 'not more stations or extended line'. Just to enrich some people.

So when yr children ask you why paid xx billion and not x billion for the same work, what would you supposed to say? It was approved by previous gov?
*
If the gov has evidence... Punish the fella.. Fine the company... It is 40% progress and you are doing retendering. I believe gov is getting wrong advice and look at the matter too simplistically. End of the day, you may save some cost but at the price of so many other stakeholders affected.

I am not going comment about children as it is irrelevant to discussion. You can create thread about project that causing our children to pay the price. Mrt is not the only project.

Just my thoughts on the matter - no personal or vested interest whatsoever.

Surely, there will be huge sums of termination ad administrative costs involved - which will likely offset any 'savings' to be made. And to make it worse, the end result will be a reduction in quality and scope - which is adverse to the Rakyat in the longer term.

Simply put, the time and effort for this fiasco could have been better spent elsewhere. I don't have a detailed cost and benefit analysis - but the feeling is we Rakyat will receive the shorter end of the stick, as a whole.

Agreed with one poster above - impression is this is all drama and Wayang in a political effort to discredit the previous govt (which we do not need anymore of - the election results speak for itself already)
*
Precisely. My feeling.. It is more political issue.

Whether LGE or cabinet, what's the different? It is the gov of the day that matter.

wonder why LRT3 such a drastic change but MRT2 only removed 2 ghost stations?

don't worry lah...who dares to touch dr. M baby?????? hit a fly on tiger head meh.....
*
Remove underground stations not as straight forward as elevated Station.

Also in future if want to build it.

Mrt2 already progress 40%... Lrt3 is significantly lesser. I guess it is easier to cut cut spec in Lrt3...

Whoa

No delay summore budget slashed by 6bil rite?

Who dared say now lge n tony pua not working?

Compared to other ministers i think only these 2 are doing real work. Tun excluded.

Summore public macam cry father cry mother said what never vote dap again

You think gamuda directors free to yum cha w macc?
*
The devil is always in the detail... The saving is purely saving without compromising spec, capacity, finishes, safety OR saving like LRT3 cut here and there?

LGE still has a lot of explaining to do... A saving money headline is always welcome by politicians by end of the day... it is the functionality and practicality that matter...

4 stations to have only two exits ("no more exit C" so I'm assuming only A and B for now):

Titiwangsa
HKL
Kg Baru North
Ampang Park
Two stations will have the public concourse removed ("let future TOD build themselves")

Titiwangsa, no more bus terminal.

HKL, no foundation work for future development (not sure if TOD or hospital expansion)

Bandar Malaysia (not sure which N or S), no foundation work for future TOD
All stations:
No artwork, only wall cladding.
Thinner tempered glass.
No more granite, only normal tiles.
Mesh ceilings.

4 stations to be shelved (shell and core only; not functional)**
BM N
BM S
Conlay**
Sentul West**

**All the above is based on MMC-Gamuda's initial offer of RM2.3 bil cost reduction and shelving 4 stations, which was not accepted by MOF and following which, MOF announced on 7 Oct 2018 to cancel their underground contract.

The final offer by MMC-Gamuda, accepted by MOF, has a cost reduction of RM3.6 bil but only involves shelving BM N and BM S. Conlay and Sentul West will be built as planned but with the cost reduction measures applied to all other stations.

So this is not what was finally accepted by MOF, as the Conlay and Sentul West will be built, but there are probably other reductions as well although the further reduction (RM2.3b to RM3.6b) is probably mostly their profit.
