From what i read, Raneiri was very disappointing with Mendy. He trust him and played him regularly last season. Wondering why he choose to move away cause he might still get more playing time at Monaco if he stay compare if he move to United.

Valera wasn't DM's pick right? Valera was on trial when SAF was around? So I think SAF was the one brought him in..

Manchester United join neighbours City in chase for Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara
10 Jun 2013 22:30

Champions' incoming manager Moyes hopes to snap up Spain U21 midfielder he had his eye on at Everton for £15m

New Manchester United boss David Moyes has launched a £15million bid to sign Barcelona starlet Thiago Alcantara.

Moyes has put chief scout Jim Lawlor on the case to set up a deal for Spain Under-21 skipper Alcantara, who is currently on duty at the age-group European Championship in Israel.

Midfielder Alcantara is available as Barca are willing to cash in for big money, and he is growing fed up at a lack of regular game-time.

The young star, who's also being linked with Manchester City, has been on Moyes’ radar before, but he was out of touch when he was in charge at Everton.

Now though, with the greater financial clout of United behind him, wheels are turning.

Alcantara is represented by Pere Guardiola, brother of ex-Barca coach and incoming Bayern Munich boss Pep, but the new European Cup holders have yet to make a move.

The Mirror understands that Premier League champions United have made contact with the Alcantara camp, with his father - Brazil hero Mazinho - open to the transfer.

United’s new manager has made progress behind the scenes and hopes to put an offer to both club and player shortly.

Fabregas and Lewandowski give United green light to join Moyes revolution at Old Trafford

Manchester United are increasingly confident they can bring Cesc Fabregas and Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford this summer after being given private encouragement from both players.

New United manager David Moyes would ideally like to bring both the Barcelona midfielder and Borussia Dortmund’s Polish international striker to the club before his squad departs on a tour of Asia and Australia in the middle of next month.

It is understood that both players have expressed an interest in joining the Barclays Premier League champions and that United feel they can do the deals.

Fabregas’s former club Arsenal have first refusal on the 26-year-old if he leaves the Nou Camp this summer but United are understandably confident that Old Trafford may prove more attractive to a player who spent eight years with the London club before moving back to Spain two summers ago.

Lewandowski is keen to move to England after his hopes of a switch to new European champions Bayern Munich were dashed this week.

United have been tracking the Polish star for months and believe he could provide genuine competition for Robin van Persie, who will be 30 shortly before the start of the club’s title defence in August.

His arrival would also increase the pressure on Wayne Rooney, who asked to leave Old Trafford towards the end of last season. Meanwhile, United goalkeeper David de Gea is relishing the chance to work with Moyes after getting over the ‘surprise’ of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

De Gea, who is in Israel helping Spain’s bid to retain their European Under 21 crown, is confident former Everton boss Moyes can seamlessly take over from Ferguson.

‘Of course I am looking forward to the new season,’ said De Gea.

‘It was a surprise to us all that Ferguson left. But we know that when we get back to training Moyes will be there and it is going to be a pleasure to work with him.

'But we know that when we get back to training he (Moyes) will be there and it is going to be a pleasure to work with him.'

De Gea is currently playing for Spain Under-21s at the European Championships in Israel and has yet to concede a goal.

La Roja secured their place in the semi-finals with a game to spare, having followed up an opening day victory over Russia by beating Germany on Sunday.

'It was very important,' De Gea said of the 1-0 win against Germany.

'We are into the semi-finals again and we are very happy with that.

'They are all good teams when you get to this stage of a tournament, they all have a lot of quality.

'It will be difficult whoever we face. We have had two tough games and, thankfully, we have been lucky enough to get through.'

Spain are hoping to regain the crown they won in style two years ago in Denmark.

England Under-21s exited that tournament at the group stage and have suffered the same fate again in Israel after defeats to Italy and Norway - something that shocked De Gea.

'I'm surprised with England as I would have expected them to have put up more of a fight and win more points,' he said.

'I thought they would have been in the semi-finals, but that is football. Sometimes these things happen.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas: I will never sign for another English club

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...ndo-Torres.html

Meanwhile, Mrs.Berbatov (someone claim that she has insider news about United transfer, 100% accurate transfer prediction so far) quoted as below :

Cristiano Ronaldo has played his last game for Real Madrid. He will sign for Manchester United for season 13/14.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be a Manchester United player for the new season. Everything has been agreed on that part.

Real Madrid do not want to reveal the agreement between themselves and United because they are trying to bring in Gareth Bale this summer - and they believe that Spurs will demand more money for Bale knowing that Madrid will be desperate to replace Ronaldo.

This is all I know on the transfer front... Any other info regarding Strootman, Baines, Thiago, Fabregas, Rooney, etc, I only know what I hear in the media.

This is the last I'm going to say on this subject. However, I will be back to accept any apologies.

DAVID MOYES will turn to teenage sensation Luke Shaw if he fails to lure Leighton Baines to Old Trafford.

The new Manchester United boss has made Baines one of his top targets this summer.

Moyes wants the England left-back to become the long-term replacement for Patrice Evra, who is considering a return to France with either Monaco or Paris St-Germain.

However, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has made it clear to his former boss that Baines is not for sale.

Kenwright is determined to keep Baines, even if United make a £20m bid.

It means Moyes will turn his attention to rising Southampton star Shaw.

The England Under-21 defender is regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Europe. Chelsea are also keen on the £10m-rated star but United are confident of luring him to Old Trafford.

United bosses are determined not to miss out on Shaw, having seen Gareth Bale snub them in favour of joining Tottenham from Saints several seasons ago.

United legend and club ambassador Denis Irwin is convinced the champions will sign Shaw.

He said: “I’ve heard a word that the new manager might have Luke Shaw at the top of his list.

“The teenage Southampton full-back is the latest in a long line of prodigies from that club’s excellent youth system.”

Meanwhile, Robin van Persie insists United must rise to the challenge of life without Sir Alex Ferguson. The Dutch striker insists a new regime will not change the attitude inside the club.

He said: “It will be a new era and I am looking forward to it.

“We have to deal with the new situation and how it is. It is going to be a new challenge.

“But everybody knows what our standards are: we want to win the league and then hopefully add one or two trophies to that.”
