QUOTE(chtan @ Nov 22 2016, 08:49 AM) You can try your luck in Amazon. They are having a black Friday Sales running Vive at only USD700. Just a general comment if buying from Amazon, don't forget sales tax if you're shipping to a friend in the US (since the Vive doesn't ship to Malaysia via Amazon). Newegg tends to be cheaper since they only charge sales tax in California and NJ. I'm a bit annoyed with the $700 price since I just bought the Vive at the normal price from Newegg and Newegg doesn't price match during Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Jul 20 2018, 03:48 AM) Itchy to get my own Vive... Only around 2.5k now, but kinda scared if they release a new one. Not talking about Vive Pro but maybe they will release something better, Pro isn't good enough for an upgrade if you had a Vive. Not even worth the buy either it seems. Maybe Oculus will release a new one soon? Sounds good to wait. I'll just be satisfied with PSVR for now. Considering that the HTC Vive is out of stock at the htc website in the US, there's some likelihood there'll be a new one eventually. Or the Vive Pro prices will drop to the old US$799 (including accessories) from the current > US$1k price... I've had the HTC Vive for almost 2 years already, still enjoying it a lot. Highly recommended if you don't mind spending the money and already have a GTX1070 or faster.

QUOTE(FluffyTee @ Jul 20 2018, 10:45 AM) As much i love my vive, watching HTC as a company losing money every year is scary. their poor customer service makes it worst. On the better side, vive is very establish with alot of customization (soft ware and hardware accessories). tracking was said to be slightly better for the hands. partly because its inside out (in contrast to outside-in for rift, hence data from each camera needs to be sent to the PC and calculated). Remember HTC is only the marketing bit, the actual engineering is coming from Valve and Valve is doing reasonably well at least from whatever you can imply via Steam sales and news reports. Nobody knows for sure since it's a private company but development money is not what I worry about on the Vive. Still I can't expect everything to stay the same, the VR/AR market is still new and realistically, very small with no killer app so I think there will be some consolidation and major changes in the future. Enjoying the Vive while I still can

The other alternative that VR/AR will take off is when there is super strong sales and backing from businesses/industry. Think VR/AR for all training in oil and gas or VR required for driving classes before you actually drive on the road etc. With that level of sales supporting development of the hardware by Valve/Oculus, the trickle down effect is that consumer level VR/AR will continue to flourish despite low sales from the general public. Anyway, I'm thinking of selling off my HTC Vive and getting the Vive Pro Bought in November 2016, asking maybe RM1,800? Anyone interested?

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Jan 8 2019, 08:01 AM) Vive Cosmos looks nice, hopefully more affordable. and Vive Pro Eye, with eye tracking. Yay progress! Although this doesn't exactly look like an upgrade for my current HTC Vive...

QUOTE(Pensuke @ May 24 2020, 11:28 PM) Bought my Rift S september last year. Been using this for 8 months and have had issues with the microphone intermittent failure. But not really an issue for me since I use external mic anyway. But I am really satisfied with Rift S especially the controller and changeable battery. Contacted Oculus support just in case they have solution (not expecting exchange obviously as not under their warranty criteria). So why is it not under warranty criteria? It looks like an LCD/OLED problem or potentially cabling issue

QUOTE(Pensuke @ May 27 2020, 03:51 PM) The warranty apparently only covers the supported countries that they listed on their website. Malaysia isn't one of them. Since the item is shipped outside of the supported countries, it became void according to them. Ah ok, thankfully my HTC Vive is still going strong after almost 4 years. Best of luck mate.
