How and where you bought that HTC VIVE? I was going to buy one too, but have no idea how to get one with the cheapest way. I only thought about Amazon and Borderlinx. It take forever for the headset to be released here, cannot wait already. icon_question.gif

Tried htc vive today at my friend house, it is not as i expected.
That graphic in vr kinda bad ( looks like PlayStation one generation graphic) compare to what we see in monitor.
I know it wont as good as what we see in monitor but didnt expect so much different. Not sure whether the gpu not strong enough or not,  forgot to ask. It is about the same quality when i try vr using trinusvr ,my phone and google cardboard. Any sifu can clarify? IT idiot here.

Same with you. Tested Brookhaven Experiment. The graphic was quite blurry and noticeable blink.gif . Then I asked the PC spec, turned out it was GTX 960 SLI. I've never heard of any VR games that utilise SLI, so I assume the game only use one GTX 960 which is lower than GTX 970, the minimum, and the game only run at supersampling 1. Maybe your friend's GPU is lower than the minimum?

He aaid rx480 or something, rm 1.2k he buy .

RX 480 should be comparable/slightly lower to GTX 1060 i think, which is the new minimum requirement for the Vive. Lol then I dunno why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe he needs better GPU.

Looks like Vive will not be released in Malaysia anytime soon: https://www.lowyat.net/2016/119125/exclusiv...ysia-this-year/

After this news I think I'll get CV1 instead, the touch controller looks more ergonomic and I can get them separately if cost is a concern.

This is the saddest news. I've bought my gaming rig just for the Vive after knowing that they going to be released here in October sad.gif

You can try your luck in Amazon. They are having a black Friday Sales running Vive at only USD700.
*
Yeah, that was my original plan when HTC VIVE won't be arriving at Malaysia (as I expected). But 700 USD is still too much lol, especially when RM value dropped again recently.

For those who bought Vive/Rift from outside, did you have to pay custom once it arrived in Malaysia? If so, how much?
*
I was thinking about this and gave up already after the RM value dropped lol. I think you need to only pay 6% GST, no duty since it's under Computer part. The HS code for HTC VIVE is 8473.30.9000 (I think). You can key in the HS code in this website to check the tax: http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

One more thing, I'm not sure about SIRIM approval thing, whether you need it or not.
