my impression is almost same as yours. I am also coming from 1440p 27" IPS. catleap 2b 100hz
I didnt try too much games yet becoz I really didnt have the time
I tried 1) sixense tuscany demo 2) roller coster 3) team-fortress 2 4) simple racing car demo and several small demos which I downloaded in 1 bundle pack from forum
1) tuscany was nice, but exactly 2 main problems mentioned by you.
---i) instant nausea when turning the view by external device, either it is mouse or razer hydra, as long as it is not your head
---ii) resolution problem, the view near to your eye was still ok. BUT the far view was really blur.
2) roller coaster was not bad too. But I have some minor problem with the view keep rotating. (have to use some minor hack)
3) team fortress 2, not playable due to some problem. I already execute the exe with -vr mode, but the split screen is buggy. No time to troubleshoot that.
4) simple racing car demo - this is really good because I don't feel much nausea even though I am driving fast.
--BUT the low resolution make the far view really blur, it is hard to drive fast because of this.
5) several small demos - nothing much to comment.
about your dissatisfaction about the FOV. The first time I put on Rift, I didn't feel and appreciate the wide FOV.
I only noticed about the low resolution and screen door effect. and I immediately disappointed.
But when I put back on my Hmz-T2, then I start appreciating the wide FOV of oculus rift.
For playing game or VR stuff, it is always better to have a wide FOV rather than a big flat screen with black bars infront of you.
But for movie stuff, big flat screen with black surrounding is better because you feels like you are in a cinema ALONE.
another 2 problems for me:
1) seems like there is some lag when turning my head around.
2) I saw some raster scan line effect (not sure what it is called). It is some line scanning effect that you see in very very old TV.

extra questions:
1) how to edit topic title and topic descriptions?
2) how to properly add youtube video? I added video but it won't show lol
wanted to add more information in the front page.
Extra questions: 1) Edit your first post to edit topic title
2) I've already showed you how. Try

I believe this is self explanatory.
Non extra questions:
1) No clue on this, I don't feel the turning lag with my head. However, if you ask me, it's the vsync. That's the biggest lag inducing element
2) Raster scan line effect is due to black borders between pixels. You can't avoid this unless you have more pixels.
Anyway, I'm dissatisfied with the FOV because everyone keeps saying that it is immersive like 'it's being there'. It is not. I feel restricted in my view, I don't feel like I've 'teleported' either. The hype is big, lol.
I also have tried playing DIRT 3 for a bit (about 5 races). The scale is great, using FOV 90 degrees and headtracking is fun but... low low low low low resolution, and seeing individual pixels. I can't get that off my mind, and I never will. I don't see a problem with driving fast though - corners are still very visible.
For FPSes, you have to give it a while before you get adjusted to the sudden turns. The nausea takes a while to get used to. You do get used to it if you want to use it for FPSes. I still appreciate detail more than scale currently, so playing HL2 in -vr just doesn't work for me. I'll see if I ever get used to it.
Finally, I tried all three lenses, A, B and C.
First up, they all give the same FOV, as long as they are super close to your eyes. Secondly, A lenses allows you to see the most out of the Rift.
I might sell this after a month while the prices are still high.
