Just tried Oculus Link beta update that pushes the bitrate to 500mbps. No difference in latency and everything looks crystal clear now. Amazing.
Will record some beat saber videos at expert+ using this.
Virtual Desktop is no way near viable for serious Beat Saber gameplay. Circlejerk in Reddit is very annoying to see people saying VD is on par with Link in terms of latency, and showing Beat Saber default maps at Expert mode thinking it means anything lol
Played a song mapped by KivalEvan, a fellow Malaysian Beat Saber mapper. Pretty cool songs. The latency and tracking feels smoother than Quest 1, and tracking is better. If the controllers hit each other, it no longer flies everywhere and loses tracking.
Virtual Desktop with a dedicated router is the real deal. Latency is just slightly worse than Oculus Link and is very playable for slower Expert+ songs. Can even play 360 degree songs with VD.
You bought the strap yes? I heard they recalled all orders few days ago due to quality issues
Anyway glad u got it early. Let's meet in big screen watching 3ds lol
Only certain batch had issues. Mine still looks perfect.
One way to check: If you have the bar code and serial number on the left side of the strap, then it will be fine. Problem batches are said to have omitted it
i just got my Quest 2 from Amazon JP. surprisingly the order came early. I've expected end of Nov as initially stated on their website.
special thanks to liquidsny for the help and info esp on the ordering part
i'm a first time VR user and my initial experience is more comfortable than expected. i'm wearing glasses.
i linked it to my personal fb acc to avoid any issues in terms of authentication.
there is a gap at the lower nose area. when there is bright light outside, it might be distracting when looking downwards. other than that, i think it's seems good.
For those that bought their unit from JP amazon, is the device setup in Japanese or English?
i believe it was in English. i don't recall having to go through a language setup screen.
however, the manual/instruction booklet that comes with the box is in JP
Thanks for the reply. US quest 2 is sold out until end of the year while JP still available. Might be getting another unit for Xmas present which is why I asked
Just received the VRCover winter edition for Quest 2.
First impressions: really comfortable and soft. Its like a high quality pillow and I get the hype for it now. The thin foam version gets better FOV than stock. Impressive but not sure if it would be comfortable for long sessions. The thick version is even softer and more comfortable.

I was about to get VRcover too, but too bad winter version already sold. Only left standard version...
Btw, it take how long to reach your doorstep? and how much after currency conversion?
About 3 weeks. About rm170 incl shipping. Expensive, but all VR accessories are expensive when converted.
The problem with VRcover is the PU leather, it's not sweat absorbent so it'll get hot if you don't have air cond or fan blowing direct to your body/face, especially for exercise and workout games like Beat Saber
planning to get a VR try. can recommend which to buy ?
Just get a Quest 2 and call it a day. Superior tracking and it supports both standalone and PC VR gaming.
Other VR headsets are all incredibly expensive in Malaysia and even in retail US price, it doesn't make sense to get others unless you are a niche gamer with specific preference and lots of money to spare
both C-C and C-A cable works, only difference is, USB C port higher output voltage, so Quest 2 battery drop significantly slower.
Based on test, AMVR 5m USB-C to USB-A cable - Quest 2 only last about 2-3 hours of continuous play OEM 5m USB-C to USB-C cable - Quest 2 estimated to last 6-7 hours of continuous play, actual may be more as I doubt many will wear (display on) for 6-7 hours straight Official Oculus Link 5m USB-C to USB-C cable - same result as the OEM one.
How much thicker/heavier is the OEM 5m C to C cable you sell compared with official oculus link? My 3m cable wearing out and I'm looking for something longer
Looking into getting one. Official cable is too expensive.
Strange. DHL later sent me an email telling me that they're billing the duty, tax and disbursement to Amazon JP instead.
That's more than the amount paid for shipping. Hmm...
Amazon (for US anyways, not sure about JP) charges a pre-deposit for the import fees and taxes. If the amount is more, I think Amazon will charge your credit card for the remaining amount

Tq, looks like Quest 2 is not suitable for me. Guess I'll wait for next gen VR headsets.
You should get a prescription lens for VR anyways. 10x more immersive and it feels good not wearing glasses and have perfect vision when you've been wearing it for the whole day.
Where can I buy prescription lens for VR? On reddit I see people recommending 3D printing adapters and inserting lens from Zenni optical but I don't see any 3D printing services in my town.
shirley_andy sells them in his Shopee store, or order from websites like VR Optician (overseas shipping)
Hi all, I'm looking into getting the Quest 2, but looking online for major issues, I noticed a small recurring issue that some people are facing which was that their Quest 2 was booting into USB Update Mode, I was just curious if anyone heard about it, and if there's any way to fix it besides RMA, since I heard warranty/RMA is hard to claim locally here.
