garbled as in gibberish?

u need to go to kodi settings/language/subs... set font to ARIAL.

If you use my preinstalled Kodi, the font already default as Arial. Please to be noted that Chinese has simplify and traditional code page depend on the subtitle from Taiwan developer or China mainland developer, set the language according to the subtitle code page :

If your language is set to simplify, the traditional code page subtitle became garbled. If you set the language to traditional, simplify subtitle became garbled. If your Kodi language is English and Font is Arial, basically the simplify subtitle will work and traditional subtitle shown garbled.

Smart developer will develop the subtitle in Unicode, Unicode subtitle will work regardless of what language you set in Kodi.

Bro, pls pm me the detail of what you play back and which addon? As mentioned in the earlier thread, I don't recommend to use Kodi 17 until 17.1 or 17.2 is released.

The video and audio of Kodi are undergoing multiple phase rewrite as mentioned by Kodi website.

kodi 17, try this:
settings-video-hardware acceleration...
untick "surface" media codec, leave the other on.

i checked again...

.. exodus or quasar, i can get all videos nice n smooth with "surface acceleration" disabled (if enabled, will judder)
.. audio pass thru, best to disable as it won't work with 17.0 anyway.
.. shut down box, tv, avr, restart everything; do quick clean at himedia launcher to remove cache; enter kodi again.
.. if still fail, u should remove, delete everything from kodi incl data files, resinstall the whole lot.
.. kodi 17.0 is still very new, possible some bugs.

Sorry bro, you may try to search android tablet which might come with SIM.

Please share with me why you looking for SIM integrated? No Internet in your area? Strongly not recommend to use 3G or 4G to watch movies, your quota will exceed within few days.

q10pro native player comes with a subtitle download feature.

find it under subs option in menu button on remote.

the feature has links to subs providers... opensubtitles, i think.

for any title during usb playback, the feature will get a few subs to pop up - the 1st is usually the right one; if not, try the rest; works very fast.

If your playback video hasnt got srt or embeded subs, u can use that feature to get onlline instantly.


The subtitle download feature works for popcorn 2.9 too.

Popcorn, set player to himediavideoplayer.

But becos popcorn uses its own code for titles, u need to manually key in the right title for the feature to find the subs.

Note... popcorn 2.9 default does not offer subs, not like old versions.

I'm a new proud owner of a Himedia Q10 Pro from nicety smile.gif

I PM nicety on Friday 24th around 12:04 am with some questions I needed answers about the player and pricing/ordering information. I never expected any reply from him that night since it's extremely late but was surprised he replied quickly. After about an hour, I placed my order and made payment.

Nicety PM me in the morning with my pos laju tracking number and he informed me about tracking in the evening because their system might be slow to update. I was expecting the package on Sunday/Monday as I anticipated Nicety would post it in the afternoon or evening.

Saturday noon a pos laju van was honking in front of my gate & I was shocked as I couldn't track the package on their system. I signed for the package and knew it was the Q10 Pro from the size of the item rclxm9.gif
It turned out nicety typed in the wrong tracking number and two numbers was flipped laugh.gif

I highly recommend nicety as a seller as he holds the fastest record in responding to customers request and he is friendly with excellent after sales support I've experienced thus far rclxms.gif thumbup.gif
