I'm guessing you're new to  backups like Titanium Backup? Data loss won't be a problem.  biggrin.gif

Suggest you to flash a Custom Kernel. Stock 4.3 + Stock Kernel is laggy.
don't poison me tongue.gif well the recovery took almost my whole day today.. feeling down when phone is bricked haha..

what are the custom roms for Android 4.3 now? sorry didn't really keep in touch with custom rom world.. all i know are Cyanogenmod and AOKP (the unicorn one.. lol) and recently SlimBean and Paranoid.. AOKP seems fun

for kernel i've used Lean kernel before, should still be good for current time or got new challenger?

Of course need poison you laaaaa biggrin.gif

It's not bricked... It's miracle if you can brick Galaxy Nexus. Almost unheard before...

For 4.3, there's CM10.2 unofficial, Cataclysm, MBQ (don't ask me what's this), Purity and... Forget d

AOKP, PA and Slim Bean not so fast.

For kernel, try Fancy. It's the best kernel I ever used. Performance + Battery both good on this phone. No joke!
It's fluid for me biggrin.gif

Unplugged last night at 2am, now charging. Started charging after 19 hours on time with 3 hours screen on. Got use GPS with 3G on when I'm outside for whole day. Quite amazing I must say. 2 hours screen on at 50% point. But after 50% I used GPS with 3G on so it drains a lot faster biggrin.gif At 9% left I got 3 hours screen on.

after reading some articles comparing CM and AOKP, i'm more tend towards AOKP.. more customizations! at least the customization can keep me interested LONGER until i flash with other roms or get my next phone haha.. but i'm gonna wait for official AOKP 4.3 rom.. lazy want to keep flashing my phone.. besides wanna see the difference between stock 4.2.2 with 4.3 first..

Erm... You don't really have to read articles.

CM and AOKP are the ones that introduced most of the features now included in all custom ROM. Other ROMs normally just include them and fix bugs in the process but not really write those coding from the scratch. Then they're joined by Paranoid Android which introduced some very unique features like PIE, Halo and Hybrid Settings. Slim Bean also contributed some but not as much as the other 3 (best from Slim Bean for me should be Dark Slim Bean toggle).

Then I normally use ROM that combine everything, all-in-one. If the developer is good enough, such a ROM can be very stable and smooth, at the same time include all goodness from all those major custom ROM maker.

CM and AOKP should have almost same number of customization but those All-in-one will have both of them, integrated in each other into ONE ROM. If you get what I mean.

Actually not many ppl is using Pure CM or Pure AOKP now. All using ROM like Cyclon, Purity, Xenon, Slim Bean, Vanir etc etc that includes cherry pick not just from CM or AOKP but both. I personally prefer Orca Project.

All in one ROMs I mentioned are like Orca, Domination, PAC that kind that has all customization from CM and AOKP, also hybrid/halo/pie from ParanoidAndroid and Dark Slim Bean toggle too.

You should just try one of them then you know whether it suits you. If it doesn't suit you, just change another one and try. Just make sure you backup before that biggrin.gif
No idea.
Profile setting is CM thing. I don't really use profile either. Disable it everytime I set up.

holy.. so u mean there's custom ROM for custom ROM? custom's custom ROM!! omg.. ok slowly i will know about it.. what's i'm looking is above average customization but also must be stable also.. if crash often not fun also.. so basically the features that i care about are plenty of customizations, stable, lightweight on performance and (especially!) space.. balance btw too much customizations vs space..

are there any comparison tables between these all in one roms? last time i saw an excel file comparing the custom roms, but dunno where is it already..

after ota, my phone cannot get past "X" boot logo, even after factory reset in recovery mode. any advise?
*

same happen with mine.. stuck after OTA.. no choice but have to wipe clean all your data and reinstall fresh..

u still can backup physical files on ur phone though..

1. Download ADB and fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
2. After install ADB/fastboot, turn your phone to recovery mode (power+volume up+volume down for a while, navigate to recovery mode)
3. Connect phone to computer, then open DOS command, go to the path that you install ADB/fastboot
4. Type 'adb devices', if something lines appear, then you're successfully connected to your phone
5. Type 'adb pull /sdcard/0/... C:\...' to backup any files or folders to your PC (to know what files/folder you have, type adb shell, you'll enter the shell mode - DOS for Linux.. you'll need some knowledge in Linux commands)
6. Download android image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
7. Follow this guide http://android.stackexchange.com/questions...exus-or-nexus-7
8. Hopefully you're done
