I have searched for a while and it turned out that this is the only place that has discussion regarding Vostro 5460. Happy to join the conversation guys.

I have encountered few issues:
+ bad wifi, low range, if the router is in different room, the wifi dropping often and transfer speed low.
+ Intel HD4000 took ~1200MB ram constantly, regardless of usage. So actual ram is ~2900MB. I have tried both intel driver and stock driver and nothing changed.
+Dell Quickset limited configuration

Pros:
+ Quick boot time with ssd: ~10s Win 7. Mine took 22s restart time due to many apps running in background.
+Lightweight
+Long battery life (~3 hour video playback with max brightness)
...
Cons:
+ Bad wifi, you guys with i5M version can have Intel N6235 which is a lot better than N2230 (mine) and realtek, atheros (other guys)
+ Build quality is average, the laptop is not rock solid. if you lift it with one finger from one corner, the lid will open up slightly.
+ Trackpad dpi is quite low, when pairing with my bluetooth mouse (razer orochi) 2000dpi it's quite slow. Quick scholling and trackpad slightly disabled when typing is a plus.
+ Only 1 slot of ram, pro laptop ram like kingston hyperx and corsair vengeance usually come with a kit of 2x8gb ram. Dont know if low voltage ram supported.

My system: Vostro 5460 i3 3120M HD4000, 4Gb 1600C11 Ram (going to have 8Gb 1600C9 installed today) SSD Samsung 830 128Gb.

overheat on CPU and chipset but not the aluminium surface =.='''
last month my 5460 suddenly blackout, and change mainboard for 5 times within 2 weeks. at the last 2 diagnostic only notice is overheat problem, even achieve 100 C on CPU at that time. lastly change heating pad only been ok. dunno can last for hw long.......
according to that dell technician, he even been handling a vostro 5460 with melting dashboard.
Seen dell QC and parts being worst and worst already.....
