So far how is the vostro 5470? Is it a solid unit or a very flimsy till you feel like can bend or break the unit?

It baffles me that Dell does not give me the option to not install McAfee.

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 25 2013, 09:26 AM) it depends on your size I'm thinking of vostro or that new Inspiron 11 3000 but I have not heard much feedback from that unit.I'm not a very careful person with my gadget, and I find 5460 / 5470 is a bit fragile for myself But it is actually quite on par with normal consumer line laptop around RM2k range in term of build quality. To me, battery life is king, as I travel a lot. |

How large is the adapter for the 5470? I really like the size of the adapter of the Asus zenbooks due to its smaller size. pics would be nice.

How you manage to get your hands with Inspiron 11 3000. From the youtube videos I've seen, the 11 looks 'solid' although its really is made out of plastic to look like aluminium.
What bothers me a bit about the 11 is the celeron processor. Kind of worried about the performance when it comes to booting from a cold start, browsing web and play facebook level games. Although..touch screen is nice, but I wonder if it brings any benefit when using Win 8.1. Very hard to find shop around Miri that carries dell laptops. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 25 2013, 12:18 PM) Because my office colleagues (who were on netbook) are already using it I've been looking for netbook level laptop unfortunately Dell as well as other manufacturer simply stop producing it as they deemed netbook a dead category. That Celeron should handle web browsing and FB games well. Inspiron 11 3000 would very much fit my needs, unfortunately the price comes so close to more powerful vostro. Venue Pro 11? How many USB ports (not including mini) does it have? I require at the very least, 2 full size USB ports. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 25 2013, 12:51 PM) Venue Pro 11 is a tablet though (but battery detachable), with detachable keyboard (with another battery). Not available yet. Only 1 USB port, iinm. I checked the unit, although I would prefer to get the latest one (E145) but the unit runs on AMD processor. If you need something solid, why don't you consider Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E135? I think you could get it at ~ RM1100 now (since E145 is coming out soon). Still prefer dell due to its excellent on site service. |

So I decided to bite the bullet and get a Dell Inspiron 11 3000. Not sure if it will be a better choice over 5470. Good thing I can always sell it to another friend who is looking for such laptop.
Too bad it will arrive sometime middle of November. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 29 2013, 08:53 PM) if it is just LCD issue, the replacement will be a piece of cake Piece of cake but honestly it would still sucks because your brand new laptop had to straight away get repair, and the technician gets to take its 'virginity' before the actual owner.I hope my Dell won't be DOA. |

QUOTE(dexxtrous @ Oct 30 2013, 10:56 PM) The technician came today and replaced the lcd. Took roughly about 40-50 minutes. No problem so far but I am still considering a refund. The new feeling has vanished too quick, lol. Yeah, I know how it feels. I got my Galaxy Note II touch screen issue and it was barely 3 days old. Ask for repair and they did, but the repair left an unpleasant mark. While not so obvious, its still made me feel like I got a refurbish unit. |

QUOTE(shawnme @ Oct 31 2013, 01:13 PM) I dont understand. Everytime i start the laptop, my HDD activity is at 100% for at least a good 10 minutes before it goes to normal. And in this 10 minutes, everything is lagging. Seems like overheat issue? Check temp of the CPU?I did monitor my task manager, and i've also googled up the few applications thats hogging the HDD activity and they all seem to be pretty important services. Example: Service Host, Antimalware Executable, System..etc anyone else experience this? or is there something wrong with my HDD |

I'm thinking of opening a new thread about this unit. The Inspiron thread in specific laptop discussion seems to be dead.
