Hi there, thanks for reading. My friend and I are looking for about 1 more person to fill a slot in our clan so we can play competitively.

For our team, we are looking for a versatile/offlaner/jungler/semi-support, i.e. position 4 (to be specific, Chen, Enchant, NP, etc.) But if you don't fit those, but are interested in our philosophy and agree with it, drop us a message anyway. What's most important is that the team gets along swimmingly like a synchronized whole. Advisors are welcome as well, people with loads of experience under their belt and want to take on pupils under their wing.

About Minerva (me, Jam, manager):

Best role: Hard support. Better for me to go hard support as I have the basics down and am improving and learning the ropes consistently.
Second best role: 4 (semi support). Staying away from roles 1 and 2 for now until I get my supporting abilities to the best- also, because my LH CMI.
Best hero: Lich
Okay heroes: DP, BH, QoP, Veno, VS, Undying, KoTL, most non-carry Agi/Int ranged heroes
Currently learning/exploring: Veno, VS, Lesh, Jakiro, Tide, Lion, Bane, Warlock
Absolutely cannot play: Lina, CM, Viper, Meepo, Chen, most melee.
What I know I am bad at/need more work on: Last hitting, excellent map awareness, advanced dota knowledge, jumping into team battles (I'm scared to die)

About Frosch (friend, Mike, team leader):

Best role(s): 3/5
Best hero: Pudge, Invoker, WR.
Okay heroes: Versatile. Any that doesn't require microing.

We need people who:

- are SERIOUS
- are very experienced in terms of Dota knowledge (items, builds, heroes), strategy and skills
- have good, pleasant attitudes
- can communicate well with us- tell us what you think, feel and express yourself adequately (we have English as a medium of communication)
- are willing to learn and adapt to changes
- are patient
- are encouraging
- are able to critically evaluate situations and offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism
- are dedicated (able to be with us for at least 4 months min)
- committed (able to put in at least 2 hours per day)
- have a mic
- have FB/Whatsapp for easy communication
- are Malaysian/stay in Malaysia/are from the SEA region, but best if you stay in KL so logistics isn't a huge issue

It's OK if you:

- swear a lot (I swear a lot)
- cannot make it for a couple of days to train
- are not available 24/7
- have not very good internet
- are not from Malaysia

It's NOT ok if you:

- play the blame game
- are petty
- are childish/immature
- complain all the time
- are fixated on negativity
- are a soloist
- cannot work in a team
- are selfish
- cannot get decent pings to SEA server

We DON'T give a sh*t about your:

- gender
- sexuality
- religion
- nationality
- age
- ethnicity
- dotabuff rating tongue.gif

Addendum:

Currently, we don't know how good (or bad) we are, but I know I'm still quite noob, but I am willing to dedicate time and effort to improve my game. To do this, I need to be in a group comprising at least 3 more experienced players. If you are looking for someone with a good attitude towards playing, such as being serious, mature, consistent, (cerebrally) active, willing to admit mistakes and take criticism, I'm your person.

I personally am looking for someone to groom me to the best of my ability. The fact that I have about 750+ hours of dota playing means I have less than a year's experience (did not play Dota 1) and therefore need to learn efficiently about the game with a patient and dedicated teacher. I will strive to not disappoint you, so if you think I'm worth your time, please pm or reply here.

I've been jumping into these thread but seems like no team really want me. I'm not a great player and I don't know much about team strategy, roles definition (1, 2, 3, 4?).

I play public most of the time at least two games a day and if someone kind enough to lead me to the right direction, meaning tell me what should i do in team play I'm all open.

Can see my dotabuff stats for my play hero preference.

Add me if I look like the guy you're looking for.

p.s. I'm out of town at the moment for election. Will resume playing on monday biggrin.gif

For me, personally, I am. I have a few people 'mentoring' me, but like anything you learn, it needs to have focus. Also, there are a lot of differences of opinions when it comes to gameplay in terms of strategy, build, and philosophy.
What I'm looking for is someone who might think I'm worth their time to train up for competitive gaming. However, I have a physical defect, which is my shitty laptop, but I'm going to change by this year (hopefully). But in the meantime, I have to use my current laptop as it is. The laptop itself isn't a game changer much; my bad habits are. And I need someone to patiently and constructively communicate my flaws in an efficient manner to me.

On the roles: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessag...topic_id=366357

You can play with us and learn a bit from Frosch and Zelphyr (two of our members) so maybe pick up a few tips here and there. But currently the leader is looking for people who are experienced and skilled for a competitive team. HOWEVER, if you gel well with us, and we all like you, then skill and experience may take a backseat, since we might not need so many pros. A group that learns together and gels well is what's important in a team-based game, no?

Btw, have added you smile.gif

Basically for training and learning with a goal to enter into the competitive scene (which is very different from pub play). We do derp around on pubs, but hoping to have team matches as our staple. Have to balance out the soft and hard aspects of dota- i.e. team dynamics and team play for the former and game knowledge and skills as the latter.

To be honest, I think you're not cut out as a 5th. You mentioned being scared to die, and that's not qualities expected of a good 4/5 position player. Last hitting can be improved with training, and map awareness can be improved with lots of deaths and constant scolding, but the aggressive/passive play in battles is a natural trait that's very hard to change. I've worked with a few teams over the years, and I've seen first-hand the negative effects of a forced role.

Truth be told, most players start DotA with a carry mindset. Don't blame them though, 1st position players gain the most fame.

Thanks for your comments.

I do notice that some people are naturally more aggressive/passive in playstyle, but I don't think that that will forever frame the way they always play their games. I guess to be really good at something, versatility is important. At first I was resistant to the idea of being aggressive in playstyle/jumping into team battles/being all I WILL DIE FOR YOU MY CARRY, since I started out on stealth/escape mechanism heroes, but a mentor advised me that being overly reliant on such tactics (no matter how naturally inclined one is to them) may end up being a handicap- because that will be the only playstyle you master and it would be easy to counter you. Also, you don't help much in team battles. Meh.

Introspection has shown me that it's actually a natural fight/flight response to perceived threats- and because I am not knowledgeable enough with the heroes and their capabilities (as well as my penchant for choosing INT ranged heroes), the first instinct is to run (squishy, but attack from a distance). However, over time and with experience of the arena situation and my capabilities (i.e. knowing my hero like the back of my hand), that fight or flight instinct will definitely change as I can make better, more informed decisions. The thing holding me back is my lack of active knowledge of dota in general, but once I have that covered (which can only be obtained through more play, watching replays and reading), it won't be hard to overcome.

Am I being forced into a role? No. I know for a fact that my handicap in carrying will be worse than my currently-being-worked-on supporting role. I believe there's no time to learn swimming the best than being thrown right into the ocean (which I think is what my leader was thinking when he made me a sub... hmmm) But anyway, you do have a good, solid perspective and I will discuss what you said with my team and see what they say.

Thank you once again for sharing your valuable insight with me. You have a good day! smile.gif

This is exactly the sort of team I'm looking for. I'm just not sure if you're looking for another player.

I've been playing dota since 2006 and I tried my hand at competitive play from 2009 onwards.

I used to play everything but after a while I figured that I can tackle anything but hard carry and hard support.

Dota took a backseat in 2011 - 2012 as I was trying to complete my studies, which I did.

Now that I've secured a job for over a year now I'm dabbling in dota 2 quite often.

Do add me up la_dotta if you're interested.

Extra details: used to write dota anayses and news at MYM, Gosugamers, joinDOTA and Flash eSports back in the day. Was under tutelage of mushi and ohaiyo for a while.

I play at night after work at a nearby cc. I have a Mic. I also play during the daytime on my offdays.

being mentored is not good in dota 2, it'll make you less creative, more passive, and as a suggestion imo most players should try being a good supporter first, it is an easier measure of performance on urself, since the first few min weighs more on them
