Pioneer 9650

Alpine SPX-F17T 3-way Speakers (some said it's Alpine #F1 Series) powered by a/d/s P450.2

12 JLW3v1 4ohm DVC (sudah pecah) powered by Alpine V12 MRD-M605 Class D monoblock

hmm... the 3-way spks' tweeters r now wif the A pillar... moving it to the bottom along around the mid.. it sounds like i have 2 identical singers singing at the same time which is on the dashboard and around the leg room rite now.. ha! ha! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

base on my experience. a tweeter even if its tilted towrds passenger also no use. the gap between the tweeter and mid bass are to great or too much. a passive crossover is design where the mid and tweeters are together biggrin.gif u will get some time lost there biggrin.gif correct me if wrong

Yes, they are not pure deck. But still works fine as a good HU.

The 7990? Well..The 7998 is an extension of the 7990 but of course, the 7990 is so powerful that, you dont really need an amp to push the components you mate it with.

I tried a 7990 with Z15M. Excellent. And the setup is not even hooked up on any amp. rclxm9.gif

I blow water anot, you decide. All I can say is, you gotta listen to the 7990 + Z15M to know whether I blow anot...

BTW, the whole system was in a F1 demo car. The 7990 was hooked up to the processor. But the processor was taken out. So the 7990 was hooked up directly to the Z15M...

i was an alpine freak as well..
but after auditing super ICE cars..
there is no more point for me 2 stay wif alpine..

btw.. each HU has it own charateristic.. make sure it matches wif ur amp.

like my mvi here.. eclipse delivers a natural sound (said by SIFUs) and my a/d/s amp gives a little bit of warm sound.. focal delivers more towards high pitch noise (high trebel)..

i dono how 2 say this.. but they r a very good match..

Yes, in 3 way, one of the most headache part is positioning of the mid. Me and my buddies were cracking our heads on where to mount my 5.25" midbass. Since Kelisa and most car dont have much space we finally(with all da compromis) decided to mount it at an angle at the kick panel shooting towards the gearknob. So far so good. Did lots of discussion with my regular haunt kaki, they all said too many factors to jaga... But with my current positioning, can compromise abit loh... I think bang bang 3/4 years go back 2 ways la.. Easy...

Tiuning? Till now kena *** more than kena tuned... Hahaha.. Still tuning the setup.. Headache.

BTW, any advice?

change back to 2 way
my previous 3 way setup was so screw up until i sell it cheap cheap doh.gif

but my bro's 3 way is doing fine
his mid range and tweeter are on A pillar
while mid bass sits inside door panel
so far so good

but active for 3 way is another headache
i use to tune tune a lot with his car
but end up play back passives
sounds so much better

Sound Quest's Jerry? Met him once. Nice chap... Maybe I pop by over to SQ and see what he thinks... Hehehe...

Hello, i just wanna give my opinion on the tweeters position. I think its based on ppl's preferences. As long as u don't point ur tweeters facing the windscreen its ok. Some ppl like it "crossfire" way. Some ppl dont like the tweeter sound go directly to the passenger's ear. So what they do is they face the tweeters opposite each others. Well please correct me if im wrong. I'm a nooB in ICE. cheers

Matt! one more question. Ur a/d/s P450.2 (bridged) is for ur sub or mid? that is a for channel amp right? if it does, then run it active la. If u dont have a crossover its still fine. Use ur passive crossover for mid and straight to amp for ur tweeter.

my p450.2 is for my front speakers bcz a/d/s produces a very good sound quality. i'm currently using 50x2 for my focal and the other 50x2 i left it empty. i know it's a waste bcz if i bridged it the sound is very messy although it is producing 150x2 after i briged.

regarding running active.. it's still in my mind bcz not enough dough($$$).. tongue.gif i would prefer the whole thing run active rather than u suggested the semi active HE! HE! i would prefer my ICE installer 2 choose their own preffered crossover bcz the tuning will definately done by them.

hmm.. u r driving a MYVI rite? have u notice anything about the distance between the mid and tweeter? it is quite a distance if 2 compare wif other cars. it is highly recomended 2 use a HU wif TA(time allignment) to do the staging. no matter if u want it 2 b center o the driver.. i ask myself b4 getting this HU.. do i really know how 2 hear the staging nor imaging..? my answer would b.. dono bcz once u on it LOUD.. music is all around the car.. blush.gif

regarding the match between my mid and woofer.. hmm.. thanks 2 my installer's tuning.. he did it well and i'm satisfied.. wif an adjustment in my avionix (2channel) amp the woofer delivers wat i wanted. bear in mind tat it is better for an amp 2 control the woofer rather than the woofer 2 control the amp.
there r ppl who don like 2 spend the money for their woofer's amp.. and they onli focus on the woofer itself..

my conclusion for a woofer is
rm500's woofer=rm1000's amp
500rms's woofer=1000rms amp (700rms also can larhh tongue.gif )

i've paid a lot of tution fees for ICE liao.. i learn 2 minimize the cost for the best result. sweat.gif

Let's say if i put up only amp and speakers, will that be enough if I'm I'm looking for balanced sounding sound? What amp will you guys suggest with the budget of up to RM1.2k?I don;t really need a high powered one.Eclipse?Focal?Alpine?Rockfort? And will a mono amp be adequate?

You put amp & speaker, Component speaker or SUbwoofer?
if component speaker, you don't need mono amp..but if subwoofer you really need it.

ha! ha!.. ok.. let me tell u the story of my ICE starting point wif myvi..
long long time ago, (which is a year ago)

my 1st step was installing the FOCAL component speakers.. it was powered by the HU.. please bear in mind that the front myvi door doesn't come wif any speaker space.. so i custom made the door panel juz to fit in the speakers and it cost me rm400 (juz the fiber work door panel itself)

then my 2nd step was installing the a/d/s and JL woofer.. the sound was brighten up and i was so so so happy..

3rd was the ECLIPSE HU and HU panel.. and the sound was "fui yoh"!!! it was like live performance inside my car.. laugh.gif (juz j/k but it do jazz up the music a lot)

recently i added a monoblock 2 whack the woofer.. b4 i added in the monoblock, there was this 2 channel amp which was quite powerful but the poor thing is that it was overheated and it failed me juz bcz it ain't 2 ohm stable amp.. now wif this new alpine monoblock.. it is doin great!

2 things now i'm lack wif is running the whole system in active and a time allignment HU...

to simplify it..
1st FOCAL access powered by stock HU
2nd a/d/s amp and JL woofer
3rd HU
4th monoblock for JL
5th coming soon... wink.gif

Thanks guys.I'm actually thinking of playing with component only. So what amp and speakers will best complement each other with budget around 2.5k?

Focal Polyglass Speakers?
PHD CF or MF?
ADS,Focal,Eclipse or Alpine Amp?

My budget for amp will be around RM1.2k and speakers around 1.3k.

don plan 2 run full set of a brand.. bcz it may sound c0oo0ooL to u instead it sound dumb..

like i said b4.. last time i used 2 b a super alpine fan.. whole system was runned by alpine.. but when i start to change other brand's stuffs.. such as my current a/d/s.. JL.. etc.. i didn't know there r such posibility the sound could b..

if u r running on below focal k2p(not including k2p itself) try running an amp which is warmer o neutral.. cz the speakers below k2p runs more on the high tone (pitch/trebel).. by using warmer amp they sound better..

xetec + focal = good match
a/d/s + focal = good match
audio system + focal = good match
genesis dual mono + focal (k2p) = unbelievable g00d
alpine + focal = xxx

these r the few that i haf listened b4..

wat's ur component u r interested 2 get? btw.. try getting xetec p2 o p4.. powerful and aggresive whistling.gif they r thumbup.gif

Sorry just wanna ask few questions ...

I just wanna know one thing about Myvi rear door, if i fix a 6.5 component set speaker, definately I have to korek a lubang for it, do I really need to add fibre or papan ? Will the windows hit the magnet if just fix like that without putting any stuff ?

i guessed i must be doing the biggest mistake, i really did drill the hole for the tweeter and place it above near to the driver's ear ....
output : driver's side will get surround ...

nope.. it wont be 4.1 system...
because you don't have subwoofer...

You can't compare the placement inside car with your computer/home audio system
Inside car, u listen inside a box!

i have a scenario, 2 channel amp for front speaker and another 2 channel amp for rear speaker, but at the end, fader cannot be adjusted .. why ?
*
u using the same preout....

QUOTE
ask u , i have a problem here ... I have 2 amps 2 channel ....

let's say

amp A and amp B

my amp A is connected to front speaker , amp B for rear speaker

but when setup,

amp A goes direct to HU, amp B pass through amp A direct to HU ... why cant amp A direct to HU and amp B direct to HU, due to the problem I faced, I lost fader control .... is it possible to rectify the problem ?
both the rca from the 2 amp are using the same preout either front/rear at the hu there..so u cant adjust the preout.....

Solution:

1.use another preout of ur hu if have..
2.use hi-lo converter to get another set of preout
3.change hu
4. add preamp/e.crossover

ok guys ... my final decision now ... let's give u the whole picture ...

I have 2 units of 6.5 component sets (2 ways), 2 amps, Pioneer 3950

a) amp A with 1 unit of 6.5 component set fixed in front
b) amp B with 1 unit of 6.5 component set fixed at rear
c) no woofer

My next step :

a) amp A with 1 unit of 6.5 component set fixed in front (maintain)
b) 6.5" component set direct to HU, no amp, possible to adjust the volume, bass, treble ? I dont want the door to vibrate if on too loud
c) amp B with woofer

What's your idea about this ?

I see. Actually you can head down to KKLau Audio to get yourself a storage compartment to be placed underneath. You can see it from this link. Price: RM100 - RM150.

I have tried to reduce the gain but then everything is lower as well as the tweeter itself. But now I have decided not touch it, just that I need a normal sound proof to prevent my door from vibrating. Any idea how much it cost and brand ?

Hi Guys,

Planning to upgrade my currrent "sad" stock set-up (MYVI) to the below:-

1) Pioneer DEH-3850MPH (just bought)
2) Rogers 1600wt 4 Channel Amp (previous car)
3) Amerion 10" woofer in boxed enclosure (previous car)

Planning to buy:-

1) 6.5" Component set (budget below RM400/-) and the below items ( Speaker enclosure & HU casing)

http://www.imagestation.com/8584166/3903158394

So in everyone's opinion is this ok for my daily "abuse"? Am not an ICE enthusiast so PLEASE don't
be "verbal" about my choice, poor man lar, am the type who save's $$ to buy, then fix later(much later)
as I like to take my time, dont like to rush, so any feedback is much appreciated. thumbup.gif

I would need some help here. Time for me to upgrade my ICE as my budget is at max 1.5k inc installation. This is the list i want to do:

1. 6X9 at the rear (budget RM400 max)
2. 6.5 inch componentt (looking at pegasus as my option, but max RM500)
3. Possible addition - Amp (max RM500)

I just wondering will this be enough w/o adding the amp. I just want better quality sound on the back and the front seats. I also dont want to change the HU as well. Pls advise and thanks smile.gif

If say i got for magnat + one 6x9, for less than 1k budget w/o amp (will rely on myvi's stock amp) will this be enough?

Btw the magnat u mentioned isn't it a 6x9?

i would say ditch the idea about using 6 x 9
spend a lil bit more with a 4 channel amp and a sub-woofer

I have decided just to use a 6x9 + 4 inch component speaker. I have no plans for a woofer + amps. The reason is i dont want to spend more money for my myvi anymore (tempting 2008 ....swift drool.gif )

Anyhow thanks for yr advise. smile.gif

ur setup is good enuff if u do not haf any high requirement for ICE... a pair of front component will made the sound more @ the front rather than all around de car.. my bro's car installed wif alpine 9815.. the sound is better than what stock is havin.. more vocal.. tongue.gif

overall, i think urs is great for a beginner o low requirement listener.. laugh.gif

i'm seeking for advise here. i'm a noob in ICE and only got limited money to spend (1k - 1.5k) for amp + sub. i already got
HU: kenwood MP4033
Component: Soundstream LS 60C
and plan to get another component: Soundstream XSC.6

i need advise on
1. which type of sub shall i get?
2. which type of 4 channel amp shall i get to push these components & sub?
3. shall i get 1x4channel (comp+sub) or 1x4channel (comp) + 1x2channel (sub)
4. what's the difference between LS60C & XSC.6? which to install in front door & which to install in rear door?

i only need amp & sub which suits my existing stuff as i did not plan to upgrade my ICE in next few years. really need some valuable advise. thanks

i definately will not recommend u guyz 2 get the JL imitation sub.. JL served me well for pop n rock songs. i'm now wif image dynamics.. the bass is even deeper now..

ermm.. seriously, i can't hear the difference between DVC o SVC.. my concept for nice woofer will be the power of the amp.. i blif if i use a powerful amp, i can whack any woofer even if it's a rm200 cap ayam woofer to sound like rm600 branded woofer bcz the power of controlling the sub is there n it release the full potential of de woofer. for me, 8" doesn't reli sounds like a woofer (more like mid to me cz it juz doesn't feels rite) 10-12" will b a better choice no matter if it's for normal listening o audiophile ICErs..

eg: power handling for de woofer is 300W rms; feed it wif a 600W rms..

hope u get some idea from wat i replied above..

q1. a 10" o 12" sub is good (u may wanna considere on ur boot area cz of de woofer enclosure)
q2. if u heading for economy setup, 4 channel is what u shall considere else u can go for 1x2channel (component); 1xmonoblock (woofer depending on de impedance)
q3. aledi answered above
q4. sorry, i'm not into soundstream but u may wanna forget about the rear speakers if u don always haf rear passenger. o u may considere a 6" 2-way spks o 3-way 6x9..

thanks man u have narrow down my doubts.
i'm actually not an ICE enthusiast. Soundstream XS-12/2 seems like a good bargain. (sorry soundstream again).
i'm going for economy amp setup for now but i dunno what spec to look into.

i only have 1k-1.5k to spend for amp+sub+sub enclosure+HU bracket+speakers bracket+cables.
damn so little money for so many things
