.......... That just bought an AK240.

This happened today....



End result is....

The AK380 is to my ears, the best player in the world, and by a good margin as well. It is very very very good. But do I still think it is over priced? Yes. But it is definitely the leader of the pack and by a good margin too.

So... it kinda goes like this..

AK380 >>> ZX2 > AK240 >> X7 > AK120

I honestly had no intention of getting another player, even the AK380 although I found it to be one heck of a performer. This is cause I am satisfied with my 120 Titan-Mojo stack.

Bought the player as gifts as presents to others for Christmas.

And ClieOS and I both agree that the AK380 and the AK320 is very hard (read impossible) to tell apart when not playing DSD. And I do not own a single DSD file anyways.

This was my set up today by the way.
AK120 Titan with the Mojo connected Via Moon Audio Silver Dragon optical cable on the FitEar MH335DW.
The player in my left pocket was the Onkyo DP-X1.

It does. Even up to the 200gb cards. But there is a song limitation on them.

Do you own an AK120? If you do it'll be much easier to explain. But I'll try my best here.
So basically when you load songs the player will scan your media so that it can sort the songs you have so that it can display the songs by artist, album, songs etc.
If you have more than 10,000 songs, the player will only be able to sort and categorise 10,000 songs.
However, if you have more than that, simply disable the library scanning. And you can access all your songs; say for example 12,000 songs in the folder view in the AK120 interface.
Does this make sense?
The song limitation on the AK120 to be able to be categorised is 10,000 by the way.

Yes that is right. The library UI where it sorts the songs into artist/genre/sings can only be done up to 10,000 songs. But if you have more. Just disable library scanning and use the directory folder.

They won't. Haha. I doubt they'll be updating the Ayer any longer unless it's absolutely necessary.
But the generation after that tho, its all good. Not much of a song limitation. Then again, 10,000 songs is plenty much.

I used to drive my LCD2 with my AK120 Titan. But if you wanna use it with headphones, just connect it to an External amp (like what I used to do) or use a Mojo(what I am doing now)

If you're going to get the AK120. Forget everything else and get a Mojo. Beats everthing by two miles and is honestly a bargain for how much it's going for.
Try it out and you'll be blown away.

Well, my set up that I am using is that of the AK120 stacked on top of the Mojo connected Via optical. I've posted the picture a few posts back.
I used to drive my LCD2 straight outta the AK120 and its 'good enough' for my portable needs at that time. But I've since sold off my LCD2
But I now use the AK120-Mojo stack with my LCDX and other full size headphones. It sounds amazing and can rival alot of desktop set ups. And the AK120 Mojo stack to me sounds better than any other stand alone DAP out right now.

The Mojo is a DAC amp. So your AK120 will be used as a transport. But if you wanna use it with IEMs then you can detach the AK from the Mojo and plug your IEMs in directly to the Mojo. However, I just have them strapped together permanently cause it just sounds that good together.
And no. No interference. Just use the signal via optical out. And then the Mojo will be in charge of everything. Sonic wise. DAC and amp job will be done by the Mojo.

Yes. That is correct.

AK....... The amp better be made in copper too. Or else............ Like a guy said. You work hard to match your pants to your suit but you walk around with an AK that doesn't even match the amp.

Anyone wants to build a Mojo stack. Doesn't get better than this.

Massdrop is all kinds of nasty when it comes to these things. Long gone were the days where the deals were directly from the manufacturers.

There isn't a need for that as the unit will oxidise eventually when it is opened and used.
Actually, as a matter of fact. There is a coating on the player over the whole copper body to prevent it from rusting.

All the boys at HeadFi doing a fire sale of their AK380s and buying the new copper edition.
