There are 2 methods. One is using thermal tape by 3M which I think people like uglyvamp would be able to sell to you reasonably. The second and arguably the best solution is Arctic Adhesive which is gonna cost quite a nbit but it's similiar to Arctic Ceramique but has bonding properties

It would be very hard. You'd need non-reactive towards the PCB solvents to loosen it up actually.

u wanna try out the FAN CARD....

u can DIY the FAN CARD, using 2 x 80mm FAN or 2x 92mm FAN and 1x PCI BACK SLOT and 15 pieces of cable ties.. biggrin.gif

U need an extra PCI slot underneath the AGP card to install this DIY CARD.

U can use Stock AMD heatsinks on ur card....

2 x 80 mm FAN (Can get from Garage sales for RM 5 - RM 10 / per piece)

Cable Ties (Can get from Hardware Shop - RM 1 for 10 pcs - 20 pcs)

Can get the amd heatsink from garage sales too around RM 5 - 25 ..

Extra pci slot cover - from ur casing ...

Have a Look... maybe u could find a cheap one to mod.. biggrin.gif

TOTAL : RM 10 + RM 1 + RM 10 = RM 21

hohoho...

no lah.....

if u have everything i will show u how to put it together...

erm...

i will try and make a guide ASAP...

now the camera with me but the lighting will suck.

so maybe its best i do it during daylight....

its only to cool from bottom, if from top i dunt think its possible, but u could, be CREATIVE biggrin.gif

If u want something like artic silencer, then i suggest u get a PCI Exhaust FAN CARD, or ARTIC SILENCER biggrin.gif

the only cheap way to direct air out is PCI exhaust fan card.

This DIY Fan Card is just a cheap option to cool down ur GC. thats all biggrin.gif

i dunt know....

i tried COOLVIVA before....

I trierd OCing My GC, after a few hours i get artifacts and a lot of em....

so

after that, my pc kept restarting each time it loads windows...

i took out the GC and reinstall back the original Heatsink.

and use a 2x 80mm FAn to blow at the heatsink.

Wala... My GC is back to normal.....

i prefer to use the 2x 80mm FAN than the CoolVIVA biggrin.gif

interesting thread...i been looking around for some DIY fan card solutions also...ended up making one myself.

its very similar to zahri's idea...its damn cheapo solution (imagine using tali rafiah - red color 'wet market' grade wan thumbup.gif - to tie the fans and slot covers together), and manages to reduce gfx temp 2-3 degrees, better than nothing.

maybe i'll post pics too when im free. in the mean time shall look forward to zahri's guide smile.gif

eh, is your pci fan card effective? ive wasted time with mine, in the end it didnt improve the temp at all, heck if i put it on the pci slot directly below the gfx card, it even makes it hotter!

ic...but i prefer blowing onto the gc, not sucking icon_rolleyes.gif
i believe blowing cools better than sucking...cos most cooler blows 2 the heatsink instead of sucks...must b a good reason bhind it tongue.gif
mayb the dual fan will b interesting thumbup.gif

Blowing it to the card would lead to dust onto the card which will cause some bad things later. Dust can cause short circuits and even degrade the cooling idea u mention. This happens if u use high cfm fans tho. I think if u use super low cfm fan then it wouldnt be that bad. Try to use coolermaster 80cm fans, its super silent and low cfm.

i heard not so good things about coolviva but i also heard good things from internet review, how is it rate actually? any pros and cons?  smile.gif

Coolviva's purpose is to give a better temp and more silent compared to stock cooler at stok speeds. If u overclock it then its a total different story. Coolviva cannot release the heat that fast causing the heat delayed at the heatsinks before being released. The best ones would be DIY socket A hsf but its a a bit troublesome and u need some know how to do it. Artic Silencer would be a better choice to u. But if u really on a tight budget and would like to DIY then u can experiment it with some cable ties. Make sure it wont fall down and touch the core nicely then fired it up with ur rig. Happy DIYing.

user posted image

1. Put the 2 80mm FAn side by side, and slide in the cable tie between the two fan.
user posted image
so u will be attaching 4 cable ties to connect the two fan.

2. After that, tighten each cable tie nicely and cut the excess cable with cutter
user posted image

3. Insert another cable tie at the end to hold the PCI SlOT BACKPLATE. Like in the pics. Cut the excess Cable...

4. Once u are done. Cut the two wires from the two fan evenly and Connect the wires between the two fan to a molex connector. 2 fan to 1 molex.
remember RED to RED . BLACK TO BLACK

f you dont want to do any cutting u can use 2 molex to connect the fan together, if u want to make it look nice and neat, u can sleeve it biggrin.gif

THIS IS THE COMPLETED FAN CARD biggrin.gif

Somehow using the BTX design, my Ati Silencer on my 9800XT is performing well by releasing quite amount of heat compared to ATX design. Its quite hot even if im not using any 3d itensive apps. Maybe u can find a casing that can use a BTX design and suits your budget ?

i dunt know....

i tried COOLVIVA before....
