Microsoft is pleased to offer special pricing on Surface RT directly to schools and universities for a limited time between June 17, 2013 and September 30, 2013.

One way we do this is by offering software, hardware and services at affordable prices to education institutions. Surface RT is a terrific tool for teaching and learning and we want students and educators to have the best technology on the market today.

Q) Is the offer open directly to individuals? (students, teachers & employees of an institution)

A) This offer is open for purchase by educational institutions only. This offer is not open to individuals (students, teachers or employees of an institution) for purchase through personal funds. If you are a student or teacher, please take the offer to your educational institution to make sure they know the offer is available for only a short time.


Q) Is there a minimum quantity requirement for the order?

A) No, there is no minimum quantity requirement



Q) How long will it take to get my order?

A) Order to Shipment timelines are between 14-24 days. Factors that increase time-to-ship include incomplete order form submissions, credit health/history, order size and supply availability. All shipments will be via standard freight, unless the customer chooses to pay for expedited options.


Q) What payment methods are accepted?

A) US/Canada: Payments can be made via an institution (school) Purchase Order or an institution (school) credit card.
Outside US/Canada: Payments can only be made via an institution (school) Purchase Order

Q) Which countries is the offer valid in?

A) Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China (via Digital China), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States (includes Puerto Rico).


Q) Is there a different order form for each country?
A) Yes, orders must be submitted using country specific order forms with country specific SKUs and pricing.


Q) When does the offer end?

A) The Surface for education limited time offer is open through August 31st, 2013.


Q) Is the offer extended to Home schools?

A) We are unable to extend the Surface for education limited time offer to home schools at this time.



Q) Is there a similar or planned discount on the Surface Pro?
A) This special educational pricing is for Surface RT only. There is currently no special educational price for Surface Pro.



Q) Can you please advise on tax exempt status for schools?

A) Tax Exempt Status- Many schools and institutions around the world are tax exempt. However, if your school or institution is claiming any tax exempt status we cannot process your order without the proper documentation. Specifically, in the European Union, if claiming exemption from VAT, all schools and institutions must provide either (i) their local VAT number or (ii) a certificate/letter issued by their government/tax authority, etc., stating that they should not be charged VAT on purchases. If tax exempt status is claimed without proper documentation, orders will not be shipped until this tax status is clarified and the proper documentation is provided. For any questions regarding taxes, please consult your local tax authority or tax adviser.
