Just got mine today and guess what? I scratched the beautiful back magnesium coating. Sob sob so you guys be careful cause it will scratch.

But I love the way it actually works like a mini computer that is so portable. Doing documents is great, emails are great, surfing net is good. The only thing is that you can't install chrome but IE is still ok.

I got the type cover as it is so much better to type on and less of getting used to from physical keyboard. If you really want to pinch on the touch or type cover, just get any Logitech keyboard and plug the USB in and you will have a full workable keyboard. I still bought the type cover cause I will be travelling a lot with the surface.

Nice gadget but overpriced keyboard.

Personally I think there is too many people buying and using iPad anyway and the Surface is a really good alternative to other tablets with solid built construction and relatively good functionality. Especially with the keyboard that folds up so neatly and nice for you to carry around like a tablet but with a full size keyboard.

Pity as other forumer suggest that there isn't enough apps to make this thing work better. But me, a heavy word user, to have office home and small office edition, which is worth 500+, the price 1099 is already worth that much already.

After using the surface for a while, I noticed that the metal kickstand only allows perfect viewing at a certain angle and most of the time I am not in that angle.

Was wondering if there is any cover that can help stand the tablet a different angle depending on the circumstances? I think I found find a pouch useful now to prevent the beautiful metal from being scratched.

For me, the browsing experience on the RT with IE is not different from how i browse on my computer. That is when I am in desktop mode and I prefer it in that mode.

If you use Win8 mode (acccessible via the home page), the browsing experience is more akin to any other tablet. There are more gestures based features that one needs to get used to but nothing more than the usual swipe down/left/right/up. The onscreen keyboard also automatically pops up whenever you want to type something e.g. google search etc. Whereas in the desktop mode, the onscreen keyboard doesn't pop out and you have to call it out by reaching for the keyboard tab. But if you have the physical keyboard, then its not an issue at all.

Oh well.... Small things but not really a big problem. Atleast they got it covered and its your call.

Try looking at Bluetooth key board and mouse. Helps free up the USB port

Frankly the rt is sufficient for my needs (surf net, play games n mainly a portable working tablet). The fact that it comes bundle with office is a very big plus for me n honestly exceeds my expectations as a working tablet.

As for the type cover, get it with a bundle and it is comparable to iPad which does not come with a workable keyboard. Get the type cover instead of the touch as it is as close as you can get to your regular keyboard. Hence very much worth the money not to mention it makes the rt a genuine portable table with a very good keyboard.

What I also like is that my working laptop is also in win8 and both the rt and my laptop syncs so it makes me feel like I am carrying a lite version of my laptop.

The pro version for me is just too thick, coupled with the fact that the battery life is not that great, it defeats the purpose of a mobility. You need a different mind set when it comes to the pro but at the pros price range you can find worthy alternatives.
