Having trouble updating to Windows 8.1?
QUOTE(soultaker @ Nov 2 2013, 05:10 PM)
Why can't I find the update in the Store?

If your PC is currently running Windows 8 (or Windows RT) and you want to update to Windows 8.1 (or Windows RT 8.1) in most cases you’ll see this free update prominently featured on the Windows Store home page. If you’ve opened the Store and you don’t see the update, it could be for one of these reasons:

You might need the latest updates from Windows Update
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

You might be running an edition of Windows 8 that doesn’t support updating from the Store
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Windows Store might not be showing the latest content

Checked it out at Harvey Norman. Love the build quality and specialty keyboard. Too bad no 3G version sad.gif
*
Yeah, they don't make 3G version but its fine for me though smile.gif quality wise, it is very good

QUOTE(AlexLai @ Apr 28 2013, 02:03 AM)
Type cover is pretty good, touch cover is infuriating to use. Even after 5 months of trying it here in the US, it's just not for me, Touch typist might fare better.

On the other hand, the Surface and Surface Pro are pretty handsome hardware.
*
Touch cover is abit of a gimmick, it just little bit slimmer and lighter than type cover. Love the feeling of type cover laugh.gif

No doubt it is one of the best tablet, on par with iPad build quality nod.gif

The Surface Pro is pretty excellent. Though I may change my mind once I get a hands-on with the Razer Edge.
*
Razer Edge is another story though, it have discrete graphic and core i7 configuration. Imagine the heat build up in that small casing shocking.gif

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Apr 28 2013, 04:49 PM)
agree with that too. i give up my wishlist on dell xps 12 and get this. biggrin.gif

how much does the type cover cost?

abit disappointed with the 1366 x 768 pixel 10.6-inch screen
guess its trade off with battery life
*
Thats true. I expect next gen will use snapdragon 800 or tegra 4. Both of the processor capable to run hi res screen as well as low power.

Hmm... seriously, I'll get a laptop rather than surface pro. Anyway this is subjective. tongue.gif
*
yeah its subjective, Surface Pro did what 'normal' laptop do but in a smaller form factor. Yet still have that 1080p screen drool.gif I think it can handle light Photoshop. Another alternative is Vaio Duo 11, they have i7 model

QUOTE(derravile @ May 21 2013, 10:19 AM)
i dun own a tablet, and currently using alienware m14x, very inconvenient to travel/bring outside, the surface pro looks suitable to me,lol

Surface Pro definately smaller than that bulky M14x laugh.gif
Yet can run your PC application thumbup.gif

After what seemed like an eternity, i got my hands on this baby last night @ Challenger

SCREEN
10.6 inch screen isnt too small. If you can tolerate 11 inch, then probably this shdnt be too much of a problem. Display tech is visibly superior to the usual TN panels.

PERFORMANCE
Performance is snappy enough. The slowdowns are mainly caused by the notorious windows 8 app loading times. Switching between apps is just as fast as a full-fledged intel processor, tho i cant guarantee the same when u have music playing in desktop.

BUILD QUALITY
I can verify that all the reviews about how nice the built quality is are justified. The magnesium body is nice to touch and brush against. The dark greyish color of the body sports a professional, modern look. The curves and edges are deliberately designed,  and the body is sturdy.
KEYBOARDS
I started with the Type cover - it's springy enough - which is easy to get use to. They're quite compact, so some people might find it unsuitable for their use. For me, i definitely had an easy time using it.

Touch cover on the other hand, isnt as intuitive and familiar. It feels weirder than an on screen keyboard or those rubbery foldable keyboards - the keys dont travel at all like an onscreen keyboard, but at the same time u need to apply pressure to the keys for the presses to register, and it seems the pressure areas are pretty small at the very center of each letter.
If you want to buy this, do TRY it first! you dont want to throw away RM 350++ for this weird and flat keyboard that only works exclusively with the surface.

Just as advertised, they 'click in' when placed near the bottom of the surface with great accuracy. Kudos for that.  wink.gif

Hope u guys like this mini hands-on blush.gif
*
I agree the build quality part. Probably same or better than iPad. I would rather spend more for type cover than touch cover. Touch cover is totally not "type-able" for me shakehead.gif

exception if you use Surface Pro. i watched video that Surface Pro can handle far cry 3 at low settings.

I think it's the matter of the pixel density when I found that the words are not so clear in PDF files though still readable.
Anyway I'm very satisfy with surface RT. used it to watch videos, browse and Skype, and some games like Tetris.
Currently I still do not require x86/x64 programmes, so yeah it fulfill my needs, but quite sad as can't play heavy games like those from Steam.
*
Does it lag if switch application from time to time? hmm.gif

Surface pro, with the Intel HD 4000, can play LOTS of old games.
All those point and click adventure games will be good candidates biggrin.gif

Recently, I installed Oblivion on my wife Thinkpad E430 (HD 4000) and it run and totally playable laugh.gif

I heard Skyrim can run on HD 4000 brows.gif

very impressive, average gamers shd be satisfied (mid/ low settings).
The Newer graphics on Haswell should be even more capable.

but then msian probably wouldnt see the value of this. They want everything to be big, branded, gaming specs  sweat.gif this is too much a game changer

I think the price is fair, consider that how much for base ultrabook and Macbook Air.

Go back home, plug to monitor. Become desktop thumbup.gif

I predict Haswell Surface Pro will announce around July or August
