this RT comes out too freakin late (for msia)

tegra 3 is so early 2012 stuff. performance will not be satisfactory.
and Pro is STILL not available.

I guess i will wait for Surface pro 2 next year. Love the vaporMg, love the kickstand. I expect it to be Thinner, generates less heat, and have better battery efficiency (>5 hours of Heavy use would be amazing).
For now i'm not really complaining using Aspire S7 smile.gif

After what seemed like an eternity, i got my hands on this baby last night @ Challenger

SCREEN
10.6 inch screen isnt too small. If you can tolerate 11 inch, then probably this shdnt be too much of a problem. Display tech is visibly superior to the usual TN panels.

PERFORMANCE
Performance is snappy enough. The slowdowns are mainly caused by the notorious windows 8 app loading times. Switching between apps is just as fast as a full-fledged intel processor, tho i cant guarantee the same when u have music playing in desktop.

BUILD QUALITY
I can verify that all the reviews about how nice the built quality is are justified. The magnesium body is nice to touch and brush against. The dark greyish color of the body sports a professional, modern look. The curves and edges are deliberately designed, and the body is sturdy.

KEYBOARDS
I started with the Type cover - it's springy enough - which is easy to get use to. They're quite compact, so some people might find it unsuitable for their use. For me, i definitely had an easy time using it.

Touch cover on the other hand, isnt as intuitive and familiar. It feels weirder than an on screen keyboard or those rubbery foldable keyboards - the keys dont travel at all like an onscreen keyboard, but at the same time u need to apply pressure to the keys for the presses to register, and it seems the pressure areas are pretty small at the very center of each letter.
If you want to buy this, do TRY it first! you dont want to throw away RM 350++ for this weird and flat keyboard that only works exclusively with the surface.

Just as advertised, they 'click in' when placed near the bottom of the surface with great accuracy. Kudos for that. wink.gif

Hope u guys like this mini hands-on blush.gif

There's a youtube channel named 'surface pro gaming'. They showcase many games played on surface pro from time to time.

very impressive, average gamers shd be satisfied (mid/ low settings).
The Newer graphics on Haswell should be even more capable.

based on the author from lowyat.net
http://www.lowyat.net/2013/05/31/8627/micr...still-a-secret/
RM 2934 (SGD 1198) for 64GB version and RM 3246 (SGD 1328) for 128GB
*
thats a fair price drool.gif

but then msian probably wouldnt see the value of this. They want everything to be big, branded, gaming specs sweat.gif this is too much a game changer

Steep price for a tablet that is not even notebook convertible. Need to think twice to type this tablet on my lap with it's not so practical keyboard
*
actually it's more like an ultrabook in a tablet body

convertible sucks - they are too heavy for a tablet!

if on ur lap then do light tasks like angry birds lo~ Typing on lap is like asking for trouble

A short review on my SP.

Outlook/Build: 9/10
The Surface Pro looks amazing, and feels really solid with the VaporMG shell. The bad thing about using metal as the body is electric shock when charging. (Should be defect by design, tried 3 different brand new units having the same issue)

Tablet mode: 6/10
Too heavy to be held with one hand, made worse with Type Cover, which I consistently pressing the keyboard buttons with the cover folded back. It ignores any key pressed when folded back, but made me feels like I'm going to damage the keyboard (Touch Cover should fare a lot better since they don't have actual button).

Ultrabook mode: 9/10
Very portable, 1kg in total with Type cover is really impressive. Type Cover's build quality is very good. Didn't reduce my wpm compared to my mechanical keyboard. Kick stand is sturdy and stable, but angle is a little awkward, nothing too bad here.

Pen/Touch: 7/10
Touch is very good, near no lag, and adequately accurate. Pen is a little less accurate than Samsung Ativ Pro (I'm using this to do some art work in GIMP). After calibration it is much better, but still slightly off. Will get a new Wacom Pen to try out if it is caused by the Surface pen or the digitizer.
Needs Wacom's new driver however.

Battery: 6/10
4 hours run down on very light use, turning off Turbo (reduce the maximum processor state to 98%). I do only charge to 80% maximum to preserve battery lifespan. So the run down for 4 hours is 80% to 25%, which is not too bad. If you fully charge and run to 10%, it should hit 6 hours without a problem on light usage.

I envy you blush.gif

hmm about the electric shock, i've also exprienced the same thing on my aluminum acer aspire s7. The first 2 weeks had this problem. I searched online, got many complaints regarding aluminum laptops with shocks (none related to my model, surprisingly). Then i figured it might be my faulty plug set. It leaks electricity sometimes, cant feel it on my older plastic laptop.

Changing to a new plug socket set seemed to have permanently solved the problem.

Hi All, planning to get a Surface pro recently. but few questions for the surface pro owners.
1) How much HDD space using for Surface pro Win8?? 64GB model still got how many free space??
2) Surface pro 128GB RM3049 including pen?? Where to keep the pen??

thx
*
64gb shd give around 40 gb after removing the recovery partition

still it is quite cramped with Office, mb some games and adobe installed. And dont forget future system updates.

Is it worth it to get the keyboard/touchpad or only the tablet will do?

IMO keyboard is a big selling point. U can do computing everywhere, the kb cover is so thin and light and doubles the role of a protective cover, it'll stay attached all the time.

Haswell bring 12 to 13 hours to 13" Macbook Air. I assume Haswell Surface Pro will be at least 8 to 9 hours straight plus the Intel Graphic HD 5000 performance  brows.gif

Can play D3 with 50 to 60 FPS  brows.gif  drool.gif

yea 8-9 hours is my guess too. That's a full day at school or work! 1 charge lasts the whole day wub.gif

HD5000 is just icing on the cake blush.gif

i really really hope got educational price on this. Then we can bulk buy it
blush.gif

Im thinking of not buying the keyboard - it's quite expensive and only works with the tablet itself.
If outside - use the pen/ touchscreen to type a lil
if at home, plug in my comfy mech keyboard ftw brows.gif
