so today I went to fix my tyre that is punctured with nail.

I just drove to a random shop cause it's only simple fix which can be done by any tyre shop.

This guy just jack up my car and fix the puncture without even taking out my tyre. I ask him why he didn't take it out and check using water/soap like what is usually done. He said no need. I said what if there are other punctures? He answered me something else which I am not bothered to listen cause I already writing off this shop being slacking with their job.

Then I asked my friend about this and apparently lots of shops are fixing tyre using this method nowadays. I have been driving for many many years but on fixing puncture..luckily it's like less than 10 times. However, each shop I went before all take out the tyre and dip it in water to check for bubbles.

Yeah sure.. they only charge RM6 but this is beside the point. It's about doing the job correctly and properly. What if I really have another puncture? I do have experience before that I had 2 puncture in my tyre.

Do you guys think it's okay to fix a puncture using this "shortcut" method?

same to me also..they did the same..but for me, the concept is still same..use "cacing" to fix the puncture..maybe the hole is obvious to them..they just did it like that..

Thats the normal way to fix a puncture. And yes, its a typical $5 fix so he overcharged you.

if you really want it done correctly, you have to remove the tyre from the wheel and do the patch from the inside, remount the tyre and do balancing.

They will do it as long as you ask them and willing to pay them.

better to do internal patching. rather than the lazyman's cacing method. and the guy even more slack, never take out to check for other punctures.

indeed it is normal fixing puncture like that. but for me, its not professional. and of coz will end up leaving bad review for the shop.

usually just like TS said, the best way is to take out the tire and check thoroughly. with that im ok with Rm6. since i know they really properly check my tire...
