Well , China is tightening its Auditing Standards, more shows ( uncleaned  reports from auditors )  in red chips expected.

Of course many are more than willing to talk big about their winnings.

I read someone boasting their stock in their portfolio goes up many hundred percentage.
They minus the dividends from their stock cost.

This is so wrong.
If one keep subtracting these dividends, their stock cost will be zero!

How many percentage gain will that be then? 

People love to boost their own ego.

suddently i think of sth my dad told me bout his calculation of profit and the calculation from the account firm.

eg:
1) my dad calculation
-cost of itemA is rm10. then he sell rm20. from his pov, his earning is 100%.
-earning/cost
BUT
2) account firm calculation
-cost of itemA is rm10. then he sell rm20. from the account firm pov, his earning is 50% only bcoz the accout firm's calculation is 10/20.
-earning/selling price.

Have you ever wonder why Insider Asia do like this? Ie not show actual % gain over the years.

Answer.... They want their portfolio to look good!

I think you have to be careful.
They do a lot of adjustments, like deducting dividends from their cost, making that individual stock percentage gain look good.
Last time, I follow reading their portfolio 'management'.
After a short while, I gave up.
I did not like their way of buying/selling stocks.
I was also puzzled with how some individual stock cost suddenly went down.
It took me a while to figure out they did the deducting dividend from their stock cost trick.

*side track*
I know a lot of 'investors' like to follow such portfolios.
When Insider Asia showed BIG individual stock gains (with the dividend deducted from the stock cost), it attracted a lot of people.
I know of many who followed Insider Asia buying of stocks because Insider Asia stock portfolio showed big percentage gains.
