So, I think the changes present opportunities for Liverpool and Spurs. I hope we make full use of that.
It depends on the manager.
So far, in general, Liv has poor result (seldom win) against the top half of the table team.
So jury still out there.
Yes, general play is good, possession is superb (you don't win match by having 99% possession), but when come to clinical part, need to win 1-0 time, a lot of time, stumbled (as against good and top team, it is crucial to have ability to win 1-0, as you don't expect to win 3-0, 5-2, against good team)
See this year, Liv scored plenty of goals, can win big against weak team (that contributed good goal scoring record) but when against top team, poor result.
Defence is still a weak link.
1. win 5-0, lose 0-1, 3 points
2. win 1-0, draw 0-0, 4 points
3. win 1-0, win 1-0, 6 points.
So 5-0 is at same as 1-0 in the point tally (except for better goal difference that only matter when same point tally with other).
Also, it depends on manager new recruitment instinct and tactic.
Only if can constantly add in player like Couthinho (at a bargain), who can contribute to the team a lot (goal assist), then probably has a good chance for top 4, if added in mediocre type of player, midtable team player only, then next year may be stuck at midtable as well.
