Any thoughts on Opera Super Leonardo? All i know from the net and from lbs that it is a low profile pinarrelo older design.. Is it common in Malaysia or Singapore? Its rare in Australia cos the dealer is pushing more on Pinarello.

Notice super Leonardo is equivalent to Paris

My lbs is dealer for opera and I am considering building up a bike from it before i come back to kl for good.

if u r into egg-shaped bar, then go with ergonova. if u don't have problem with normal round bar, just go with ergosum

What the difference between the egg shape bar (apart from flatter tops) and normal bar (is it compact)? doh.gif

Wondering is it safe to slam the stem? I read like eg in Scott bikes they actually wrote this?

QUOTE
Never use more than 40mm stack height of spacers between headset and stem.
Do not use more than 5mm stack height of spacer above the stem between the
topcap of the headset and the stem.
Do use minimum 5mm stack height of spacer below the stem between the cap of
the headset and the stem

I asked the lbs if its safe to slam the stem and they as racer as well did slam teh stem too.

Wondering if anyone slam the stem here? I know its going to take a while to see if mah body going to take tat low postion.

i used to slam on my kuota. now i don't. because tarmac's headtube damn bloody short.
*
So slaming teh stem is more about getting as lower postion when you are riding on the brake hoods right?

actually, it's about ur geo n fit on ur bike. but of course u can slam it just for the sake of looking cool at the expense of ur back.
*
I see, the lbs where i bought my new bike and while was doing bike fitting they suggest me to try this and see how it goes... Can comeback later to put back the spacer if things doesnt go well for my back. Cant wait to go to local crit circuit to test out.

Got myself new bikes. My previous lbs where i usually go to snub me off when i told them i wanna buy a new bike from them (which is a pina paris). The snub me off in the way that they are not interested in doing business with me. vmad.gif They tell me they get back to me with the details after they "work things" out when in actualy fact they can just call the distributor and ask for the stock availability. Till now which is a month plus since it happens they haven contacted me or whatsoever. Guess they dont need my business when i am going to spend that amount of money on Pina paris. Not to mention their shop is actually more like premium dealer. whistling.gif

Ask them to fk off whistling.gif and now i settle with another lbs who more than keen to do business with me at the expense of starting the relationship with lbs all over again. Sure they dont carry many stuff as the previous lbs but my freinds who went there were really happy with thier service biggrin.gif

u need to test it on long distance rides as well. that's when u know the fit works or u'd end up with brokeback.

i'm sure ur new lbs is worth it. have fun with ur new pina paris.

i think ur previous lbs tried to do u a favour. they didn't want to see u getting vinanned
*
Yeah, i plan to do long-ish ride (2 hours i guess) on crit circuit to see if things goes the way i wanted cos i plan to use that bike for Crit racing. The crit circuit is really empty during the weekdays so wanna try something as few interruption as possible.

I din get pina paris in the end. I got myself Scott foil team issue from the new lbs as they are having clearance for the next year model . Not to mention i got myself custom lightweight alloy wheel build to my spec from a well known builder in Sydney.

Tell me about that "vinanned" thing? I am so keen to buy from the previous lbs but what happen when i DO want to buy new bike really pissed me off with them and decided to move on to another lbs vmad.gif

so jealous of u guys over there in oz; custom wheels!
*
Yeah, i got to know this guy after reading tru local forum. The best thing about this guy is that he will repair the wheels (carbon or alu) and you only had to pay for the parts/small consumables. He will still do it even you are racing with that wheel and you broke it after a crash. He really stand by his products. He will call you up and ask your citeria and he will suggest best lacing combo. You can custom everything from hub colour, spoke nipple, type of spokes, type of rim (23mm wide or normal width) and even the sticker colour. He even will lace powertap to you wheel if you choose teh option

Sure his item are more expensive than some big brands wheels but then when you take into account that he really stand by his product, i find its worth to pay that amount for it. smile.gif

who is this ?? pls give me contact details/website .. might have a look. I've contacted Greg from TWE and so far he's been really helpful in giving me specs/info for a wheel build but since the wheels he recommended will cost as much as my bike I gave it a miss
*
Its actually Greg/twe. I had to agree his stuff are quite pricey but I am fine with it & knowing shit happen i would not be worry about spare parts.

Mind tell what kind of wheel you are asking him to build up for you?

Being said about his pricing, i rather get myself an second hand low mileage twe carbon wheel. Not sure Greg will service the wheel if the wheel if it was bought from another person.

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Jun 4 2013, 08:44 AM)
yes, i'm sure it's worth the price. altho the price is more expensive, at least u know that if something happens to ur wheels, u can get the replacement parts fairly easier than factory wheels. another point is, hubs last much much longer than rims. with factory wheels, usually u just chuck them away coz u can't use the hubs with latest spokes/rims.
*
I heard usually factory rims cost as much as the actual wheel itself. Not sure if its true or not. I doubt local distributor will even bother to import it in here.
