QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 6 2013, 08:41 AM) just push your budget by another RM1.5k and get a set of Zipp 404 Firecrest Tubular instead...and zipp has their so called "proven aero advantages" not just with head on wind but also at yaw angles, and how it cleans up air flow after leaving the wheels and stuff like that... mainly hocus pocus if you want to believe it... but then again, when you are spending that much.... why don't you get something with a bit of hype in it right? had visited 2 bike shoo in kl....they giv me the price of 404 above 7k....if 6.5k still can consider, but where can get this price?so, RM5k is seriously neither here nor there for aero wheels...especially one where you want at least 50mm and above... you'd not want a rolf prima because there is no presence here in malaysia... if you run into the problems with the wheels... god bless... for real cheap options... i'd try mavic cosmics carbones... i think those are within budget and another one of the safe brands to take in KL... |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 6 2013, 09:43 AM) which 2 shops??? i dunno if the price got increase or not lar... specialized store....7k plus for clincher....tubular is not a good option for me as most of the time as a casual rider...but there was a time that there was kind of a zipp price war going on and i know the tubular 404 firecrest went down to RM6.5k...carbon clincher is more expensive if you are looking for that.... i think the best you should try is GH Speedbike and Pedalspot since both of them are the channel for zipp... outside dealers might sometimes undercut their price... but you have to look hard and far... |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 6 2013, 10:00 AM) as long as you are opting for carbon clincher or campy freehub... the thing does costs more... thanks bro,i get wat u mean....bbs got ppl selling brand new tubular 404 ar rm4500....additional weight aside...actually... most people who buys this wheels will already be rolling on tubulars unfortunately... it is practically costly performance wheels and a lot of them would not want to sacrifice money not well spent by riding inferior tires... furthermore, i do still have my doubts on riding carbon clinchers despite being proven wrong time on time... you can go and survey around and see what most zipp users chooses... i understand the pain of riding tubulars, but there is always ways to carry a spare tubular with tape or using sealants which many of tubular users swear by... or maintain a more normal set of clinchers for casual rides... riding clinchers on a pair of expensive wheels is like pumping RON 95 while driving a Ferrari 458 Iltalia if you get what i mean (even if it is technically possible)? some food for thought... don't make the wrong decision... ps: none of us are full time or part time or in any fact racers... we are all casual riders too..."casual rider" means nothing nowadays because they could be riding equipment that is even better than state or national riders... |

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Jun 6 2013, 10:09 AM) actually, i was in the same position as you, last time. 5k in hand and looking for a deep wheel. in the end, i chose a low profile wheel instead. because, what i'd get was not worth the 5k i'd spend yah...i also think tat 5k realy worth for 2pcs of wheel.....other than tat i also consider mavic carbone sl which only 3k+ but the weight is heavier ffwd f6r with price 4600 but brand not much review in the market reynold assault at only rm2900 but temporaly no stock at ksh |
