Guys I m considering getting the new alienware... just wanna confirm... is the Alienware user upgradable? Say if i wanna change the HDD or Ram or even the GFX card. it is possible, hard or impossible? Thanks!
about the VBIOS, perhaps have to wait some geeks to release the VBIOS, as GTX780M is too new at the moment. not so sure about the new one, but the old one, R4 is user upgradeable. they even give easy access to HDD and RAM (except the 2 beneath the keyboard). graphics card is upgradeable too.
Thanks man! i sure hope they are still making it user upgradeable. Another question arises.... I did a quick call to Dell asking them about the custom nameplates.... It seems that on the new system.... There are not offered... is it true? Bcoz one of the reason AW is cool is bcoz of the nameplate!
it just hit malaysia's shore at the moment. event customizations are not allowed at the moment. so perhaps we have to wait a bit longer.

The newer systems are just released, give it some time for customization options to come yo And yes there will definitely be customizable nameplates, again give Dell time
thanks guys! kinda anxious actually. first Alienware for myself...
So if i order it like now...I wont be getting the nameplate?
Guys. I saw this this one video on youtube reviewing the AW14. It says the system is capable of supporting up to 4 HDDs...?! Is it even physically possible?!! Or i heard wrongly?
Just called up Dell Sales, they informed me that new model of AW will no longer have the name plate provided. Not sure whether they will provide later on?
Same response I got when I called Dell. But on Alienware FB...they replied this
CODE
Alienware Hi Teddy, yes, it seems the nameplate will only show the type of product as well as its manufacturing date, and will not be available for customisation.
To me as long as theres the nameplate...It's all good!

have been thinking for a while and i think i gonna get the new M14... just that i have a noob question about RAM.. dell provide a 8gb ram... can i upgrade to 16gb next time?
thank you
edit: i saw @xandman askign the same question a few page before... still new i guess... now only DELL put up another 2 m14 option...
according to some videos.... everything is upgradeable.... so i guess it's a yes... =)
But they say only use DDR3L....Not the cheaper DDR3 Now that I dunno how true it is....
When I say ugly, I just mean the front of the back pack but I bet the insides are still the same as the orion.
The Orion is a great back pack, been using it for a year. It has a compartment in front (two smaller areas on the front compartment to put stuff), one in the middle, and one in the back where you put the laptop. Laptop area is easily accessible in case you're at the airport or wherever and they need to see it. The back pack is pretty great quality I think, I've put in a lot of equipment and it's still holding strongly. I usually travel with a mouse, power banks, tons of cables, phone dock, other accessories. Plus a bunch of stationary, plus the laptop/power cables (which are pretty heavy). Once you have the back pack on your shoulders, you don't feel much because it's so comfortable. Possibly the best back pack I've used so far and very sturdy. I also like the plain front design compared to vindicator but that's just personal preference.
Thanks man! from online the bag looks small! thats what i am worried about.
Yeah, works great. If you're in an air conditioned room even better.
save me some moneh!
and guys... the AW14 runs DDR3L... is it possible to use the normal DDR3 as replacement? i plan to make it 16GB... no shops currently has the DDR3L....
Hi, DDR3L is just a lower voltage RAM (1.35v vs 1.5v). You can still use the DDR3 ram for your machine. They're still debating if it'll affect the battery performance with the difference but I doubt it, the brand is a beast. Don't expect ultrabook battery durations.
Awesome!!! So i can use any ddr3 sodimm? Ooooo yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
order date :24/6/2013 description: alienware 14 status: Work in Progress estimated delivery date: N/A
