QUOTE(Superman7 @ Jul 8 2013, 11:35 PM) Yes bro.And i got slightly cheap. So it's worth it! The build quality i'd say easily match the Macs...albeit not as thin... QUOTE(refnulf @ Jul 9 2013, 12:23 AM) Thought AWs were using Windows 8.1, then realised it isn't released yet. I'm going to stick with Windows 7 as long as I can. Not a fan of tiled shit, and neither am I a fan of the crap they did in 8.1. So I won't be changing until a new machine I guess. Yup i agree. I love my win 7 more!I can't be swiping the damn screen all day, that's why I have a mouse. QUOTE(devour @ Jul 9 2013, 12:47 AM) Thanks! |

Guys
after the short usage last night.... the AW14 can get pretty hot... And that is before any stress testing for gaming is done... So i guess I may need a cooler pad... I am looking at the Notepal U3 and Notepal X3. Any of you have any experience with these? Or maybe there are better ones out there? Thanks! |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jul 9 2013, 10:04 AM) before you windows is about to boot up, press DEL key (at the alien head logo before the 2nd alienware logo) to enter setup or something else like that. im not so clear about the latest BIOS in alienware, so you might want to check things yourself. QUOTE(Superman7 @ Jul 9 2013, 10:59 AM) In total, how long it took from placing order till arrival at your door step? i placed the order 17/6 and i got it 8/7.Order placement via online or via phone? Got 10% discount? Note: Few reviews noted bad LCD brightness and device gets easily hot Thats about 3 weeks. i placed my order via phone and email....and got 5% discount and free HDD. QUOTE(Jayi @ Jul 9 2013, 11:12 AM) Definitely yes. search for Intel Rapid Storage Technology software in your system, you can configure from there. Thanks! I'll try it in a bit!are you sure ?? QUOTE(Superman7 @ Jul 9 2013, 11:16 AM) mSata storage is only 64GB. Why would you want to use it as a storage since you haev 750GB of HDD already dedicated for that? the 750GB will be used as data storage only. This kinda defeat the purpose of hybrid hdd right? i m too used to SSD speed for bootup and application startup. So it's kinda slow right now. QUOTE(Jayi @ Jul 9 2013, 11:16 AM) Pretty hot at which area bro? Palm rest? only on the right hand side of the palm rest and the rear vent...for the right moment i suggest that you just raise the bottom to get more fresh air. btw for M14x R1 R2 the notepal U2 perfectly fit. Of couse U3 will be better with 3 fans and fan controller but its very large and im afraid it kinda oversized and hard to fit in your backpack if you moving alot. i think this beast definitely needs a cooler pad... QUOTE(Jayi @ Jul 9 2013, 11:20 AM) If he gets the 64GB one, its not a bad idea to turn it into storage and move your OS to the msata SSD so it become boot drive instead of ssd caching Yup u read my mind!Thats what i am planning to do! =) |

QUOTE(refnulf @ Jul 9 2013, 02:47 PM) I don't like carrying around a notebook cooler, it's another peripheral I have to stuff in the bag when 1 inch book does well for everything yeah planning to get a SSD just for games. In fact, I don't have to carry a book, I can pretty much use anything. xandman I'd suggest getting yourself a SSD, anywhere from 240-512gb (you don't really need a 940g SSD right now). SSD used for games, and software. Nothing else. Keep your porno and whatever else on the 750g that you'll use a secondary storage bit. dun worry...porno on my NAS. but now i m still contemplating....do i need the optical drive or not... hahahaha... |

QUOTE(sadukarzz @ Jul 9 2013, 11:17 PM) Should be able provided that you have the disc and license key. But I guess that would mean wiping out your system, by that you should take note of the hardware you have to download the drivers for installation. But you can easily do that by just logging into your dell account (if you have one) then you can choose your current device and find the relevant drivers, it should all be listed there (from my Inspiron experience). Good luck bro I need all the luck in the world man! Thanks! |

QUOTE(refnulf @ Jul 9 2013, 11:49 PM) True, you could also wipe everything and reinstall Win 7. It's easy as pie, doesn't take long to get everything back to stock (check forum.notebookreview.com). There are threads about getting your machine back to Alienware stock mode. Also you'll need a Dell account to get all the drivers, software for Alienware. Also provided in those threads. U r a great help mate! Here's the one for Windows 8 Here's the one for Windows 7 Here's to get the look and feel of the stock Alienware Thanks for the linkies! |
