Warning: non-halal

I beg you all travellers to Hong Kong to go to Tim Ho Wan (添好運) in sham shui po (深水埗), the only Tim Ho Wan shop that has a Michelin star!

It mainly serves dim sum and it is the cheapest Michelin restaurant in the world!

I was just there last week and thank goodness for the dim sum was soooo gooooddddd.

Oh my god... the cha siu bun... I wish they opened a branch in Malaysia...

When I arrived, I was 30 numbers behind everyone else, and when my number was called, the latest customers who just arrived were about 60 numbers behind ME!

It's that crazy.

The business is so good... it's like they are printing money.

I ended up spending 198 HKD for 10 items for 3 persons. Where else can you get that price for a Michelin restaurant experience?

Tbh, other than the food in HK, I wouldn't visit HK to see almost uncountable amount of old, run-down, very dirty apartments.

Hotel rooms are cramped, it's too packed with people everywhere, roads are not tidy and somewhat dirty too. The worst thing in HK is that it's soooo damnnnn hard to find a bench or chair to rest your butt and legs no matter where you go, even in the malls!

Be prepared for very, very sore legs travellers!

got la . you dont says like hong kong really no bench for you to sit now alot of malls have bench for you to sit awhile for resting la.

Of course got but toooo few... and most benches can sit just 2 people each, and they are found in the way to toilet.

lol

Even in time square, it is no different.

Major malls in Causeway Bay and on Hong Kong island (not Kowloon) are like that.

Considering the amount of people in Hong Kong, I just don't understand why they don't provide more place to sit... lol

But for travellers it sucks not able to find a place to rest.

Unless if you go into a cafe or restaurant.

Yea I know how it feels to have "lemon" feet and the moment sitting down. But it's fun to exercise a bit anyway when we only sit and drive in KL most of the time smile.gif

I'm used to walking around a lot, but walking for 1 - 2 hours straight before sitting down and repeating it from morning until night... that's really harsh...

The one in Mong Kok opens late, around 11.00 am if I am not mistaken. Wanted to try it but couldn't as I woke up very early every day with an itinerary full of activities.

Didn't try Tim Ho Wan as well as I heard my colleague say it's closed down but based on what I read in this thread it's still open! Wasted  sad.gif

The original store was too small, and when the news of Tim Ho Wan got awarded with a Michelin star became common, the landlord decided to at least more than double the rent. So the boss decided not to be held to ransom and closed the shop, because of that the Michelin star was also gone.

Luckily, he had opened other branches, and the one branch in Sham Shui Po got awarded with a Michelin star three years straight.

All other branches do not have a Michelin star.

Fun fact:

The chef-owner of Tim Ho Wan was a chef working for a restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel before opening his own dim sum shops.

Now, that restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel has three Michelin stars.
