I'm going HK end of the month. Thinking to do visit the Big Buddha on the first day since It is on Lantau Island near the airport. But one problem is our lugguage. Anyone knows where we can tumpang our lugguage?

And do we have to take a cable car up?

i read that the cable car terminal has lockers too..but from the measurements of the locker, 84cm (H), 40cm (W), 87cm (D) i doubt it would fit my big size lugguages

how big are the lockers in citygate?

Anyone walked from Harbour City to HK China Ferry Terminal before? Is it convenient?

Convenient! Not that far only. Remember to bring passport if you r going macau. Happened to me today that all of us never thought of bringing our passports. Hahaha.

Hi all! I'm finally going to Hong Kong this September, will be going with my gf and we plan to explore the city without going to Disneyland or Ocean Park. This is the first time in Hong Kong, so the main question is how much cash should we bring? I feel insecure to carry all the cash with me. Will be there for 5 days 4 nights.
*
Im here for 6days and I got 2.5k here. I dont bring all my cash with me, but kept it in the safe in my hotel. im ok with keeping this way cz the hotel is a 4 star hotel, service everything oso not bad one. Looks reliable.

I brought my mom to hong kong last week. I strongly do not recommend elders to go Hong Kong as it requires alot of walking. If they must go, book a tour. My mom do work out, but still she felt tired after all the walking. Take MTR you have to walk, get out of MTR walk as well, visit Buddha have to walk. Walk walk walk walk walk. lol

Feel a bit panic while see you experience at hong kong. This coming saturday i will flying to hong kong with my mum too.. really can't imagine whether my mum can last on many walk or not.... sweat.gif
*
hmm..you should...hahaha..i kinda regretted bringing my mom to hk. One tip, try to check whether places you wanna go can be reached by bus. MTR are everywhere, but you would still need to walk there. Unless your hotel is just directly at the station.

Good luck smile.gif

I've bought 2 flight tickets last week from Air Asia as they having a promo until 1st September. However I kind of regret as I've only found out that the accommodation in Hong Kong were damn expensive. The rate are same as it in Paris.. wtf. All starts from MYR500 even for 2 stars hotel. Their hostel or guest house starts from MYR200++ and doesn't look convenient at all.. it does look like our 'Rumah tumpangan' in Chow Kit where we normally pay within MYR50-80 only.  -sigh-

Travel Period : 14 to 18 Sept

I staying in a 4 Star hotel in Shatin last week. Paid for it few about 2 or 3 months ago. Rate was 400+ per night. But the room was nice.

Read the maps. Get familiar with the name of the places. Print a copy of the MRT route too.

Hi, may I know what is the maximum passenger capacity for Hong Kong taxi ? I am going with 5 adults and one child below 3 years old.

Also, I am having a headache now as Ngong Ping cable car service is under maintenance now till end of Sept. My trip is in early Sept sad.gif .. any suggested transport to go there ?
*
HK Taxis can carry 4 or 5 passenger. It will be shown on the front of the Taxi whether they take 4 or 5.

For Ngong Ping, u can take a bus up there.

QUOTE(Etms @ Sep 8 2013, 02:35 AM)
Hi all, I m newbie here. I will bring my parents & sister to Hong Kong by October, just a 4day 3night trip.
First half day we r planning have a city tour like "woman street, start hill, taiping hill etc.
2nd day lantau island
3rd day macau
& 4th day already back around 2pm flight.
So is that better we get a tour advisor for 2nd & 3rd day to make it more convinience? Or if taxi will b difficult?
Cause my parent is 66 & 69yrs, which option is more relax for them?
It tour advice any recommend ? Thanks!
*
hmm..I kinda have a different pov with the above 2 replies. I actually would recommend a tour. However, I think it depends on what are the places that you guys wanna go to. If there is a tour suitable for your needs, why not? If not, you can always opt for taxi seeing that there are only 4 of you.

Travelling by MTR is strongly not recommended seeing that your parents are 60 over yo. Went with my mom and an uncle, there are 50+ only and couldn't stand the walking on the second day already. LOL

Ok, seems like tour is really not worth it. My advise for your firday day is to take taxi. For Lantau maybe can take train to Tung Chung for the NgongPeng tour, then 3 minutes walk to the cable car station.
