ever wonder why uniqlo always has spots for managerial candidates? I used to be a part timer there and many people I know have been attracted by the salary (yes it's very good no doubt). I've known many management trainees including my ex-gf and 98% of these trainees quit within less than a year due to the pressure. It's not exactly a 9-5 job and if you get put under an abusive and robotic Japanese manager you're pretty much f*cked. But if you're not the outspoken type, and likes to lick your manager's feet and be a robotic clone then I encourage you to go ahead.

it is. it's a fun job on the outside made worse by the upper management. most of them are anal about certain things and expect superhuman capabilities from their staff. again, if you're the happy go lucky type who is willing to go about getting instructed to do everything then go ahead. the pay is good after all.

Hey guys, thought I would share my experience during the interview process earlier this year. I applied in Dec 2014. Somewhere in early January 2015 received a call from Uniqlo, invited me for their briefing session.

Went to the briefing, they will tell you about the company's background and stuff about this UMC programme. For those interested to proceed, you'll have to take the online assessment.

They send me the link for the test same day as the briefing. I did the test, wasn't that hard imo. Some logical and numerical questions.

Few days later they called again, says that I passed the test and invite me to the 1st interview. Went to the interview, it was a group interview, there were four of us. They don't ask questions about Uniqlo, they asked about myself, any obstacles I've overcome and stuff like that.

Everyone was asked the same questions, so please volunteer yourself to answer first so that your answer is original.

It took only 30mins for the interview. Next stage would be a 2-day training at Uniqlo store. They wanted us to experience how does it feels working in retail by having the training first.

I passed the interview and was invited to the training, unfortunately I couldn't afford to take anymore EL to attend the training, thus I rejected the offer.

Overall it was a good experience, but I think the turnover rate is high, because when someone asked during the briefing, they didn't want to disclose.

One more thing, be prepared to be stationed at their store outside of your current state. I was asked whether I'm willing to work in Penang, and I'm currently lives in KL.

I got a couple of colleagues who worked for Japanese company as well.  Panasonic, Sony,  and Toshiba.  What I can conclude from my conversation is, Japanese company a lot of office politics, they are biased towards their own people, salary is not too good, and workload is tremendous.  For fresh grad, maybe it will be great start.

Just my two cents...

Is it for exp would be a good start?

Let me add something, i made it through the training and what not till the last stage where i got into a room fsolowith the japanese dude. Got asked around some normal questions, why this, why that.

In the end i knew i was going to flunk because at the last moment when he asked me was there any questions i would like to ask, i didn't ask. Not sure what came to me for being so reckless, but that was part of my experience by far.

Surely, i flunked. lol
