Local AAA expensive sweat.gif for the normal 800mAh. Not the Lite 600mAh.

For comparison, cheapest local I can find is RM12.5+ each (RM50 for blister pack of 4). I think not yet count postage.

I'm getting quite a lot (refer earlier postings) and the price is RM8.75 each only.

Don't know which movie. I'm not really SW fans. I only know got X, Y, A, B -Wing. The SW movies I know stars Harrison Ford, Alec Guiness, Mark Hamill (who also act in computer games for Wing Commander Series)

Justin Bieber I don't know laugh.gif

Ok la... I try to hunt for you guys. What is the ceiling price going to be? Is RM750 ok? Early this year my friend and me bought 2 sets from Korea, including shipping was under RM700. I forgot exactly how much... Nearly two years ago I bought at RM450 only... hee hee brows.gif

Lucky the Maersk box is not big like the other train sets but it is still heavy. (just shy of 2Kg)
Customs won't stop it, I used to import for my personal consumption too when it was not so easy to find here. Now I just buy from Viewnet in Low Yat Plaza, a guy there used to give me special price but he left recently... I like the glitters and pink edition. Batteries can look nice too! wink.gif

There is also a "Lite" version specifically designed for remote controls, I bought heaps of those for all the remotes in my house. (don't use regular batteries anymore) I also use the Eneloop Lite for my Power Function remote. Plus point of Eneloop Lite is that it can be recharged even more times than regular Eneloops....
*
oh, hope Customs won't stop it sweat.gif let me know the Maersk train also...

I have not read the review ... but this 8878 vs 88000, got its pros and cons. Both are same dimension size.

8878
advantage:
- higher performance than 6x AAA (rechargable)
- lower weight
- speed control

disadvantage:
- need adapter to charge (sold separately)
- expensive

so are Eneloops better than Energizers?
*
Got pros and cons.

Eneloops retain charged voltage over longer time. It "drains" away slowly if not in use.
Other rechargeable batteries drain quite fast over 1-2 months.

But if compared to Energizers alkaline/Li-Ion (non-rechargeable) , Energizers (or Duracell/etc.) provide 1.4-1.5V (vs 1.2V for Eneloops) , i.e. you will notice your motor more "power"

I'm not having much luck with Emerald Night but I found 12 sets of Maersk Train! rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

Nobody reply me if RM750 ceiling price is ok or not... This is going to be Community Service and I will publish the details for all concerned to see but I need to know if the price is ok otherwise I won't waste my time and the sellers time to take this further...
*
QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ May 1 2013, 05:32 PM)
Ok, at least I have two votes to work on. Ideally we can get 6 peeps to join this order then we can optimise the shipping, the seller says can fit 6 sets in one box. Alternatively, the seller also has a few sets of 8043 Motorised Excavator, I can't remember who here was hunting for it though.... The price should be around RM900 I think... (just a guess) So another possible combo is 3-4 sets of Maersk + 1-2 sets of 8043 should keep the price within range...

And some developments on 10194 Emerald Night, found 3 sets with a different seller asking for 200 Euros each (including shipping). I may take one set, so two up for grabs! Import tax and Misc charges not included...

So these are the numbers for those who are interested to chew on.... If you think it's a go then I will move this to my bulk order thread to create a name list and take it to the next level with the sellers. Cheers! smile.gif

What will be the estimated landed price (include shipping + tax) for both sets 10219 Maersk and 10194 Emerald Night ? hmm.gif PM me if not convenient to post in public.

how about compare to rechargeable Energizers?
*
I'm not sure the exact power output of Energizers rechargeable, never used before. But given rechargeables are no match for normal non-rechargeables, I would put it at similiar 1.2V with the Eneloops for AAA. AA will be about 1.27-1.38V

However, the disadvantage is quite clear when compared to Eneloops. It "drains" faster in weeks or 1-2 months if not in use even after a full charge before storage. In this case, I'm not going to play the Lego train / PF every week.

I used to use other brands of rechargeable batteries, after 3-4 weeks, need to recharge for hours before play, mood also gone already.

hmm... I saw your much earlier postings about Maersk at RM750, but I'm not sure if include shipping + tax.
Then saw your other email about x-wing 10240 USD200, landed, etc. about RM900+ ? (correct me if I'm wrong). But no mention of Emerald Night.
Then I got confuse for price of Maersk and Emerald Night rclxub.gif hmm... haven't receive your PM ...

Impressive wing mechanism, but using Technic studless beams, pins and axles tongue.gif I think that's better than normal bricks, as Technic methods are stronger but still compact.

QUOTE(scpt @ May 3 2013, 05:55 PM)
the train remote, how does it work?
I don't suppose we have to point the remote at the train all the time for it to be moving? It's just like a TV remote for on/off and probably speed control right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't open my set yet tongue.gif
*
Train remote same like Technic, using the latest Power Function modules.

Need slight line of sight, and not too far distance. Without blocking, I think about 3m.
With the IR module embeded in the train, the line of sight is reduced to about 1.5m, and also the angle / point.
If train put on floor, better.
If train put on table-top, slight reduce distance.
