thanks to fellow LYN user in this thread for posting pictures, convince me that it is not software, but hardware problem..

the trick is simple, 1. imagine the camera module is like a washing machine that has moving part inside, but outside not moving 2. washing machine will make noise and vibrate alot, if its feet not secure to the floor... 3. now back to 920 camera module, if u study the youtube videos about 920 dissassembly, u will find that, the camera module is only tied by a ribbon to the board, no physical fastener or glue that holds the module in place. 4. the only thing that keeps the module in place is the thin sponge at the back cover, that suppose to put pressure on the camera module so that it is secure in its designated place.. again, no glue or rubber. 5. so i'm guessing that, my phone has a problem with this because; i- OIS still working; ii- the focus is ok;, so either the thin sponge that suppose to press down camera module in place has gone thinner, or my back cover actually has tiny swollen that makes the sponge does not in contact with the cam module.. 6. the only possible solution is, to minimize the gap or make the camera stay firmly. so, i get myself a rubber O-ring, that has just the right size and thickness for the task. 7. the o-ring is slightly larger that camera window, (so it is not visible from outside), but smaller enough (smaller than cam module) it can fit nicely on top of cam module and keep pressure. it is also made of rubber, so it can provide cushion and does not damages the module, and because of that, it does not slip.. 8. make sure the o-ring has just enough thickness for the job, if its too thick, it will put too much pressure, and possibly damage the cam module; and also will also affect the led flash.. (flash module is secured to cover, and only connected to the mobo circuit by contact points, if too thick, it will create a gap and not contact the flash to mobo circuit) 9. while too thin O-ring, will not help at all.

Okay. For my case, i have no idea if i have this problem. My case, is inconsistent. Some photos are slightly blur, while most of the time it is sharp enough.
try capture at all angle and orientation, with steady hands or pseudotripod of course.
my close up/macro photos appear ok at all kinds of angles, slight blur issue only with landscape and occasionally photos of people. I guess partly the aperture and lack of depth of field is at fault.
lumia 920 cant take lanscape photo.. only good at medium and close range photo.. shallow dof cos f2.0..
i think i want to try mod mine. see how better or not. you think if i put something on top of the back sponge like a piece of double tape to make it thicker can do the job also? i got o-rings, but quite small.
u sure or not got same problem as mine?
i prefer something that is not sticky or leave residue when u take it off, cos later if problem arise, (only those problem that can claim lah) still can remove and send for warranty
take a piece or rubber or something that will not turn dusty over some period of time, (cos its too near the cam lens, dust is biggest enemy)
if u need, just cut the small o ring u got into two, and place it, at the left and right of the lens, of of u got four pieces, can put at all four sides..
since the rubber is not glued, u need to put on back cover with the phone screen face down.
thickness is vary, maybe ur phone needs something thinner/thicker than mine.
but please, not too thick, cos it will disconnect the flash module from board circuit

means that you lay on top of the lens, which is in between the lens and the case?
yes. then when u install the back case, it will press the oring (and cam module) firmly, so there are no gap that will allow cam module do harlem shake when OIS kicks in.
I dont understand. Ur camera unit defected when in close up mode or what?
Then u open ur 920?
not really defective, but poorly assembled. not only close up, but all kind of shot also affected, mostly if taken with a slanted camera angle, if taken at straight up position, will reduce the chances lah, not every time will be perfect..
now, i take terbalik, pusing pusing, 45 degree slanted ka apa angle also come out perfect.
of course lah open, u think i put my phone in oven ka? Hehe..
Do u have any problem with dust trapped in the front camera?
currently no, but that maybe just because how i take care of my phone, doesnot mean my phone has no dust, so it must be dust proof.
u can try blow with compressed air from the earspeaker hole.. i saw a video, and the guy manage to move the dust away from camera.. (the dust still within the phone lah)
made in china, they said china ppl prefer pineng over original yoobao.. since the price more less the same like yoobao, i bought it. aluminum casing and auto turn off..
