GoPro is a brand privately owned company in San Mateo, California Woodman Labs that features "wearable" camera/camcorders such as helmet cameras that are targeted at adventure video/photography.

Oculus Red Filter
By far the simplest red filter among all others, where you install it by snapping the filter to the housing and tie the rubber band to the other edge of filter. Originating from Thailand, Oculus grow into a well-known red filter for GoPro since 2011.


Pros: The cheapest red filter among all in the list. Material of the filter is corrosion free and can be easily remove to shake off microbubbles.

Cons: Rubber band will wear out eventually but replacement is easy. Filter might fall out easily if the rubber band is accidentally hooked.

Backscatter Flip3 Red Filter
Designed and manufactured in USA by one of the pioneer of underwater photography and videography. Backscatter Flip3 color correction is now flip horizontally with an angle of almost 270 degree and smaller compared to earlier model, which means it no longer block the front LCD panel.


Pros: The new Backscatter Flip3 allows you to install a secondary filter on top of the adapter (Green water filter coming soon). With a simple flip of a finger and you can remove the red filter when you don’t require it. The frame of Backscatter Flip3 is made from aircraft grade anodized aluminum construction, which means lighter and high corrosion resistance.

Cons: Due to the superb material, Backscatter Flip3 comes with a bigger price tag. Installation and removing the filter from housing require an allen key (or known as hex key).

Polar Pro Cube Red Filter
Similar to the Oculus Red Filter, Polar Pro Cube is another simple Snap-On red filter for GoPro HD Hero3 Housing. Polar Pro Cube provides the widest range of available filter for GoPro Hero3 at the moment with its magenta and polarizer filter.


Pros: One of the cheapest red filters among the list and comes with a filter tether and protective bag (not for use underwater). Polar Pro Cube is easy installation by snapping to the lens section of the waterproof housing.

Cons: Thinnest red filter among all and might not function as described at certain seawater (as blue water is “moving target”). Constant light will required if dive deeper.

Compliment with URPro filters ranging from shallow blue sea, deep blue sea or green sea etc.

Cons: Highest price tag among all in the list as it comes with URPro filter. Externally carrying case might require to safe guard the 55mm filters.
