Samsung exec: Waterproof and dustproof Samsung Galaxy S4 could arrive in the coming weeks
http://phandroid.com/2013/04/23/samsung-ga...oof-dust-proof/

If there’s one thing Samsung has always excelled at, it’s blanketing the market with a variety of hardware configurations to fit just about anyone’s needs. You want a 6.8-inch phone? You got it. You need something cheaper for your 15 year old kid? You got that too. But what about those that have been looking for a ruggedized Samsung Galaxy S4? Well, it looks like you might soon have that too.

Speaking at press event, President of Samsung Gulf Young Soo Kim may have let the cat out of the bag, mentioning Samsung’s plans to introduce a water proof/dust proof in the near future. How near? Kim says in the coming weeks. While we start daydreaming of a ruggedized Galaxy S4 that can withstand the elements, I wouldn’t be surprised is it’s something more along the lines of the Galaxy S4 Mini we’ve been hearing about.

Of course, none of this is official and we wonder how much weight this off-the-cuff remark might hold. It wouldn’t be the first time a President or CEO has slipped up. We’re all just human. But what do you guys think? Would you be willing to sacrifice some aesthetics for a waterproof/dust proof Samsung Galaxy S4?

weird that the article mentions 3 variants...

QUOTE
Processor-wise, Samsung has three versions of the device, with two powered by its own eight core Exynos 5 Octa-core chip, at 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz. Singapore will get the one running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon at 1.9GHz.

got the invite... but never mention about price or plan... so, i guess the price is same, but dun have to 'fight' with the rest?! invite says must bring staff id. i guess anyone who got staff id can just go there instead. coz the invite also never say what company... i think this one is just gimmick.

Thats bull lah. I am using iphone5 now a d the places i go to in MK and sunway, pj , BU all have LTE already on Maxis. By end of this year, coverage would have increased.

It would be stupid to buy the s4 now. Wait for the lte version

Lte speed is so much faster compared to 3g. Its like compare streamyx and unifi
*
but its not really stable or good... was with a fren using iphone. we tested with speedtest.net apps on the iphone. maxis lte connection... speed was less than 1mbps. biggrin.gif

i used my 3g u mobile... almost clocked 2mbps. biggrin.gif

but i'm sure it will stabilise over time. so yes, i agree with the argument that lte can wait another 1-2 years... i'm in no hurry to get an lte phone for now.

Mont kiara lah bro
How does lte use up quota faster? If file is 10mb whether on 3g or lte, it still downloads as 10mb mah. And lte has actually improved battery life on ip5.
I am constantly getting more than 10mbps on maxis lte and its very stable
*
#1. not everyone knows what MK means... even i din know. I tot you meant Mount Kinabalu... tongue.gif

#2. how does LTE use up quota faster? try downloading 10GB file using LTE (maybe 10 mbps connection) vs dial up of 56kbps... which one hits quota faster? biggrin.gif

#3. in regards to my fren's iphone getting less than 1mbps on masix lte in pj section 14... i guess my fren got a defective iphone5 then... doh.gif wink.gif

so u are saying:
1. LTE download your 10GB file faster, get the job done within 2 days. and u are saying "bad LTE use up my quote in 2 days"
2. 56kbps download 10GB file slower, get the job done after 2 weeks. and u r saying "good 56kbps cos it only use up my quota after 2 weeks"
*
i din say good or bad... wink.gif

i just said one can get you to your quota faster than the other... just like u drive from kl to penang... if one drives at 10kmh and another at 100kmh... which one reach penang faster... no good or bad. biggrin.gif

plse understand my post and how it replies to the earlier post from someone else...
