Got S3 last year with maxis 3gb contract but got robbed so currently using Ace. Waiting forever to switch to this phone.

Because Digi starting pre-order this sat, I called Maxis this morning. The person I spoke to knew nothing (launch or pre order) on s4, but I asked that if I got a LTE supported phone, how about my current plan? No need to upgrade? She said no need, just as long you in coverage area u just set your settings to LTE can already. Can anyone confirm this? Sorry if I posted this on the wrong thread.

Any LTE users now? Because I'm still on the fence whether to get the S4 Lte or the non lte supported one. Battery consumption is very important for me. Thanks notworthy.gif

shocking.gif No wonder what she told me was what I could find from the website. Except for the 4G service can be automatically upgraded from 3G if have supported device and within coverage area. I found that quite hard to believe without having to incur additional charges. That's why I came here to ask if anyone here can verify.

Have to get ready for the s4, cannot tahan using Ace anymore. Been saving like crazy and acting like a total cheapskate for the past few months. Thanks for the feedback btw! thumbup.gif

My experience calling Maxis about LTE activation on my Xperia Z. First she told me LTE only available for iphone and Maxis sales phones only. And Xperia Z is not inside Maxis list. Than I said my phone detected LTE in Damansara area and shows very high download speeds ( exceeding 30000kbps)  - how is that possible than ? She put me on hold and came back and at least apologised , saying since my phone can detect LTE automatically , no need process to go through activation as long as I am using one of those new sim cards ( mine was 6 months old)

In summary :
As long as you are using the newer maxis sim card, LTE will be auto detected. Change your simcard if your LTE phones fail to detect
All LTE enabled phones ( on 1800, 2600 Mhz bands) can be supported
There is no extra charge using LTE ; your present data plan can still be used
"Screw" those Maxis support staff at 123 if they tell you otherwise as obviously they are ignorant

rclxm9.gif Thank you so much! I changed to the new sim card about 3 months ago because I was robbed and needed a new one, so when I switch to s4, it will need to be cut for it to be micro sim but it won't change the ability to detect LTE right?

I really appreciate what I get on lowyat, replies are so prompt compared to maxis call (was put on hold for about 10 mins cry.gif ). And the info so much better. Now only have to find the comparison between the quad and octa version of s4 online to see which one is better for me. Thank you Thank you all again! icon_rolleyes.gif
