Can transfer D3 win7 files directly to Win8?

Halp...
 I getting a new laptop today since my old lappy fan blew over the weekend.Old workhorse uses Win7 Will be getting a Win 8, so wondering is it possible to transfer the files over or a clean reinstall is required.
